Ghana: President Urges UN to Consider Reparations for Slave Trade! (22.9.2023)

“Reparations must be paid for the slave trade,” Akufo-Addo said to an eruption of applause.

“No amount of money will ever make up for the horrors, but it would make the point that evil was perpetrated, that millions of productive Africans were snatched from the embrace of our continent, and put to work in the Americas and the Caribbean without compensation for their labor,” he said.

He also called for the illicit flow of funds from Africa to be returned to the continent.

While the current picture on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals “is not very bright,” Akufo-Addo expressed the hope that “it is within our capacity to turn things around.”

A good start would be to make the needed changes to the structures of the United Nations, “then we can rebuild trust and reignite global solidarity,” he said.

UK: British Museum Faces Renewed Calls to Return Cultural Relics! (7.9.2023)

“They are the subject of loot. They were illegally taken out of the country,” Tijani said. He demanded the British Museum give back the Benin Bronzes, which British forces took in 1897.

“It is irrespective whether they are safe there. That is not an issue. The issue is that these are stolen artefacts, and they should be returned to Nigeria to the communities that they belong to,” he added.

Bell Ribeiro-Addy, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Afrikan Reparations, threw light on the “insulting ridiculousness” of the British Museum’s refusal to return artefacts to their country of origin on security grounds.

“One of the most insulting reasons that they’ve given is that the other countries that these items belong to would either not be able to take care of them or they are likely to be stolen,” she said. “But you’ve got people in this country putting them on eBay.”

I would advise the same approach for all European countries – including the UK – and would suggest that our national governments STOP US Tech Companies from flouting our local laws and treating us as if we are US citizens (existing outside of the US) and applying all kinds of discriminatory and prejudicial limitations to our behaviour that are alien to our cultures and contrary to our laws! In reality, Biden’s destructive economic policies are destroying free market businesses and this has led to the InCareer Corporation (which owns ‘Linkedin’) shedding over 700 jobs worldwide and closing non-competitive enterprises. The reactionary US media is packaging this happening as being China’s fault and the product of draconian local regulations. The hypocrisy is palpable.

The children are ‘brainwashed’ to co-operate in their own enslaving and abuse. Many of these adult women may well have been victims of sex-trafficking themselves and are repeating the cycle of abuse they experienced as a child. If the Colonial treatment of the Congo population (by the Belgians) is studied (which involved the routine hacking-off of hands and feet) – then placing children in bags ‘unhurt’ is considered comparatively ‘harmless’ to the local Congo people – regardless of how shocking such practices may seem to the contemporary Western observer.

China: Huawei to Roll-Out 5.5G Equipment! (20.7.2023)

In China, the number of 5G base stations exceeded 2.84 million by the end of May as the country ramped up efforts to build the world’s largest and most advanced network infrastructure, said Wang Jiangping, vice-minister of industry and information technology, during the Global Digital Economy Conference 2023 held in Beijing earlier this month.

With technologically advanced network infrastructure, China has been accelerating the development of the digital economy in recent years.

The scale of China’s digital economy grew to 50.2 trillion yuan ($7 trillion) in 2022. The share of the digital economy in the country’s GDP rose to 41.5 percent, making it an important engine for stable growth and transformation, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

With service models and content evolving continuously, breakthroughs in technologies like goggles-free 3D are creating unprecedented immersive experiences for users. However, these new services require stronger 5G network capabilities, making a stronger case for 5.5G modalities.
