UN Population Fund Deputy Executive Director Andrew Saberton, who just returned from Gaza, told reporters that the agency was able to bring in some assistance last week through the Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem crossing.

“We have been distributing medical supplies and equipment, including incubators, delivery beds and fetal monitoring machines, that were prepositioned inside Gaza, to hospitals,” he said. “But the trickle of aid being allowed to enter Gaza after the ceasefire is nowhere near enough.”

Inside Gaza on Tuesday, out of 10 humanitarian missions coordinated with the Israeli authorities, six were facilitated, including the collection of water tanks, hygiene kits and fuel from the crossings into Gaza, OCHA said.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hussein Al-Sheikh considered the step a “historic moment.”

Expressing gratitude to countries that have recognized and will recognize the independent State of Palestine, Al-Sheikh stressed that this is the path to stability, security, and peace in the region.

The Palestinians demand the establishment of an independent state alongside Israel with pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

The international impunity Israel enjoys and has enjoyed for 75 years must come to an end, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in a statement.

“On the heels of the deadliest year for the Palestinian people and a catastrophic humanitarian situation caused by the commission of crimes listed in the Rome Statute, the referral is asking the Office of the Prosecutor to vigorously investigate the crimes under its jurisdiction and within the context of the Situation in the State of Palestine,” the statements stated.

The State of Palestine recalled that States Parties to the Rome Statute indeed have a responsibility and an obligation to cooperate with the Court and ensure an objective, impartial, and independent investigation.

Al Jazeera also trumpets the anti-China rhetoric broadcast by the US – always accusing China of the groundless accusation of Uyghur abuse, etc. This is how Al Jazeera is quite happy to align itself with the ‘White’ anti-China racism of the US – whilst simultaneously seeming to oppose the ‘White’ (Zionist) anti-Palestinian racism of Israel! The Qatari government pursues this path whilst doing ‘nothing’ to actually stop Israel perpetuating its War Crimes (after-all, Qatar and Israel are allies in Syria) – and does ‘nothing’ beyond puff pieces and fine words to assist the Palestinian people!

China and Palestine Hold Presidential Talks! (15.6.2023)

Palestine backs the Global Security Initiative, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi, and speaks highly of the China-mediated talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Abbas said.

He thanked China for putting forward a number of initiatives on an early and just settlement of the Palestinian question. The Palestinian side believes in China’s wisdom and just position and expects China to play a greater role in promoting intra-Palestinian reconciliation and realizing peace in the Middle East.

After their talks, the two presidents witnessed the signing of documents on bilateral economic and technological cooperation.

Prior to the talks, Xi held a welcoming ceremony for Abbas in the Northern Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

After seventeen years of division in the Palestinian arena at the political and geographical levels, and what has multiplied it in terms of the costs, burdens, and requirements of life and living – the phenomenon of unemployment and the unemployed has increased! This has been seen especially among the youth and graduates with poverty and extreme poverty becoming a generalized phenomenon – in addition to the increase in the rate of taxes, customs and fees on Goods, the decline in the level of domestic production, the decline in the level and value of exports and the increase in dependence on importing food and industrial goods! This impoverishment has lead to the failure of granting poor families their entitlements from Social Security! In the absence of changing the existing model of power – this situation has harmed all aspects of economic development, social development and healthcare.
