The day of seizing power on August 23, 1975 is of great significance to the entire Lao people, because such a victory is the fruit of the protracted Revolutionary struggle of the Lao people and the tribes under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party; It is the result of the ingenious courage of the use of the 3-step strategy to seize and hold power in the whole country without being overwhelmed, the victory of the correct Revolutionary line and the wise leadership of the Party, which knows how to creatively incorporate Marxism-Leninism into the actual behavior of the Revolution; It is the victory of the strength of unity, the unity of the whole nation, the unity of the army and the tribal people, the victory of the solidarity of the fighting alliance between the Lao people, the Vietnamese people and the Cambodian people who have stood shoulder to shoulder against the same enemy throughout the previous National Liberation Revolution, that is, in the mission of preserving and building the present nation.

Lin Yuan, Assistant Director of the International Development Department of CFRD, also spoke at the event. He mentioned that the 1,000 bicycles, delivered via the China-Laos Railway — a symbol of the friendship between the two countries — reflect the strong bond between the people of Laos and China.

One of the recipients, Athit Khounthavong, a Lao student, shared his excitement upon receiving a new bicycle. “It was very inconvenient to go to school before, as it took me half an hour to walk. Now, with the bicycle, I can get to school in just 10 minutes. Going to school has become much more convenient!” he said.

The temple has a deep historical connection with Laos, and the monastic community, along with the lay followers, is dedicated to developing Wat Longkhoun into a beautiful and culturally rich Buddhist heritage site.

There are various activities that are unique to the people of Luang Prabang, such as wearing traditional clothing, unique food and experiencing the lifestyle of the local people. In the past 2 years, there were 883,096 tourists who visited Luang Prabang. In this, 483,765 domestic tourists, 399,331 international tourists – with the average income from tourism amounting to more than 336 million US dollars. Along with this, Luang Prabang province has 97 hotels, many resorts, 400 guest houses, 311 restaurants, 97 travel companies, 19 entertainment stores, 36 massage and spa shops, 553 national tour guides (with at least 126 women performing this role) and 41 provincial tour guides (including 11 women). All of this development has continued to attract tourists to continuously visit Luang Prabang each year!
