1745 Coaching Stone - Original 18th Century GPS!

Sutton: 18th Century Coaching-Stone – the Original GPS! (13.4.2026)

I may well have written about the old coaching-stones scattered around Sutton and Cheam – I now of two – but was unaware of the date they were established. Basically, these devices informed travellers on foot, horse, or carriage – how many miles it was from where they were to the centre of London. Coachmen could either read the inscription engraved on the stone – or was taught what the stone said and remembered where it was when driving on the road – either way – these coaching-stones served as the original GPS system for travel. I think the Roman established something similar thousands of years ago – so the concept was not new in 1745. What I did not realise is that these stones have now received official recognition of being historically important monuments worthy of preservation and protection. The iron-bars and plaque are the new editions which I only saw when taking a rare walk through Sutton.

Bashplemi Tablet - Georgia

UK: Georgia’s Undeciphered “Bashplemi Tablet”! (10.4.2025)

The next idea is that it might be a votive offering created as an act of worship – then thrown into a lake – to placate some type of pre-Christian deity. Of course, Georgia is not a Celtic area – with the (non-Celtic) Pagan Vikings not arriving until in the region until around the 8th-9th century CE (around four centuries after the arrival of Christianity). The problem with this idea is that if the people of Georgia were advanced enough to read, write and technologically produce such a stone tablet (using at least two-types of drill) – why go through all this effort just to throw the finished product into a local body of water? Perhaps the tablet was dropped into the lake by mistake. Either way, the tablet contains 60 discernible characters – 21 of which are unique – whilst 39 are repeated.

Polynesian People Came from China!

Ancient China: Did Shang Dymasty [1600-1046 BCE] Travellers Reach the Americas? (12.3.2024)

Since 1973, Americans have been discovering many strange artificial stone products in the shallow waters off the coast of California, in the United States. The total number is as high as eleven, with a number of these objects being “cylindrical” shaped, designed like an “equilateral triangle”, or “circular with an empty middle”! American scholar Moriarty pointed out – in his analysis of the stones – that these objects did not come from the Americas. “There is no doubt that this is an early stone anchor from Asia.” Based on the calculation of the manganese accumulation rate on the stones of one millimetre per thousand years, “since today It is about 2000-3000 years old.”
