Blond Hakka?

I think that given the right circumstances, any group of human-beings can migrate anywhere if they need or have to do it. After-all, a small group of homo sapiens left Africa around 140,000 years ago, and eventually populated the entire planet! I mention this because there are three issues of Hakka identity that are curious to me, 1) recurrence of blond hair throughout Hakka-Chinese populations, 2) Hakka women are equal to Hakka men, 3) Hakka women never had ‘bound’ feet.

The Buddha rejected ‘idealism’ as being an expression of deluded thought, but the Theosophist Movement essentially interpreted Asian spiritual culture through a Judeo-Christian filter, and this was compounded by the work of DT Suzuki, who mistakenly presented in English translation, the Lankavatara Sutra as being an idealists charter, rather than the sophisticated analysis of the human mind existing and interacting in the physical world that it undoubtedly is.

Master Xu Yun Did Not Teach or Advocate Japanese Zen

The venerable Xu Yun (who lived to 120 years old) was in attendance of this meeting when these monks arrived and made their case. He stated that a Buddhist monk and his robe cannot be separated, and that in China, a Buddhist robe signifies the practice of both strict celibacy and vegetarianism – without the Vinaya Discipline – Chinese Buddhism simply would not make sense.

On Why I Am Not Afraid of Death

That is pain, which seems to be a very important issue for human beings. As for myself, I am certainly not immune to pain, but am not interested in it. Yes pain happens from time to time, but as it is passing, I am aware that it is not permanent. In this respect I am lucky because many people suffer all the time and never have a break from the experience. I would say that life is mostly a neutral experience with outbreaks of pleasure and pain from time to time.
