Of course, a Russian colleague of mine thinks that this story might well be a modern invention designed to denigrate the reputation of modern Russia by referring to a corrupt Soviet past. The point is that the alleged Soviet sleep experiments are nothing but an unscientific and ahistorical myth, designed to keep a poorly educated Western workforce in a state of fear and opposition against the very Socialist ideology that would free it from the horror of capitalist oppression.

In the meantime, individuals can choose to progress human evolution by deciding to think beyond the current socially accepted limitations of perception. This may not be easy – as sometimes the powers that be will attempt to oppress any progress in a certain direction that might deprive a privileged minority of their power and influence. In reality, progression requires bravery, insight and resolve.
