Namibia Condemns Germany for Offering to Defend Israel in ICJ Genocide Case! (18.1.2024)

On Friday, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit rebuffed South Africa’s accusations against Israel at the ICJ hearings, which took place in the Hague. He said in a post on X that Berlin “firmly rejects the accusation of genocide made against Israel. It has no basis whatsoever”.

He added that his country “will therefore speak as a third party in the main hearing before the International Court of Justice”.

Staunchly supporting Israel, Germany issued a statement stating that Israel “has been defending itself” against Hamas. The statement defines the South African case as a “political instrumentalisation” of the UN Genocide Convention, which it opposes.

South Africa has called upon the ICJ to take provisional measures against Israel, which includes an immediate halt to Israeli military activity in Gaza. Although the interim rulings are expected to be reached in the next few weeks, a final verdict is expected to take years.

As to whether the actual government of Yemen monitors this page I do not know – but the news stories have not been updated for nearly a year and appear oddly out of touch with the reality of everyday life. Finally, the (racist) Western media habit (mirrored here by Xinhua) is to draw a false distinction between the ‘Houthi’ people and the entire people of ‘Yemen’ – as if the popular government of Yemen (since 2014) does not represent the entirety of the Yemen people! Despite the Tory-ordered (illegal) acts perpetuated by the RAF – the Yemen State has still been able to freely fire missiles at ALL shipping assisting Zionist Israel in its ongoing genocide against Palestine.

“Texas’s new actions since the government’s filing demonstrate an escalation of the state’s measures to block Border Patrol’s ability to patrol or even to survey the border and be in a position to respond to emergencies,” Elizabeth B. Prelogar, the DOJ’ s solicitor general, wrote in the filing.

The DOJ is asking the Supreme Court to intervene in an ongoing legal battle between the state and the federal government and overrule a 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that prevents Border Patrol agents from cutting the concertina wire Texas has strung along the Rio Grande.

Texas troopers and National Guard members began to take “full control” of the 47-acre Shelby Park on Wednesday night, erecting concertina wire and fencing at the park to close off access to the public, the Texas Tribune reported.

Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas said he was told that the park would be closed indefinitely and the state government took the action to prevent immigrants from crossing into Texas.

In the fighting across other arenas, the official announcement by the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces regarding carrying out attacks and continuing to carry out attacks in the future – represents a prelude to larger movements, the features of which may be determined by an upcoming speech of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
