Mei-An was born on Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 – at around 6:25 am in a single Maternity Room at St Helier Hospital. I was teaching Taijiquan at health centres (actually retirement homes) in the Leatherhead area at the time – and after holding her for one hour – I had to return home on the bus and change into my teaching clothing to head-out again to teach! I had not slept for two-days – but such is life. By the time I got back to the Hospital it was around 2 pm – and Gee was very hungry due to the small portions of privatised food being given out (literally a small triangle of cucumber sandwiches). I was forced to go out and purchase extra food – little did I know at the time that Gee would end-up working as a NHS Midwife – albeit in another London Hospital! Gee’s waters partially broke on Saturday evening – but as this was her first baby – she was not sure about what was happening. As matters transpired, it took until Tuesday morning for the waters to fully break – and that was following medical intervention. Just prior to the birth – Gee was practicing Taijiquan in the Room! Twelve-years on, Mei-An is a student of Nonsuch School for Girls!
