Paignton: Moses Waveman – Appearing Opposite the Gasworks for a Limited Time! (24.6.2023)

Since my family moved to the Torbay area in 2002 – my father (Peter Wyles) – has flourished into a semi-spiritual figure! Even I have to book an appointment to see him – such is his busy schedule! Recently, a local Torbay artist (Yannis Nicolaou) together with young people from local Special Schools, have combined their labour to produce this excellent mural spray-painted on the boarding surrounding part of the old Gasworks (opposite Hollicombe Park) on the road between Paignton and Torquay. The Gasworks used to cover an area both sides of the road (inside the park) and existed for decades – employing thousands of people locally.

My father used to wave further up the road but as the Managers of various (UKIP-supporting) Hotels in the area continuously called the Police due to drivers ‘beeping’ their car-horns in happiness – he moved to the more remote area away from these deficients and their bigoted attitudes! After-all, the happiness he represents will outlast the dark politic intrigues these reprehensible individuals support! Ironically, the Local Council granted permission for this mural – but this is the same Local Council that once tried (but failed) to invite my Dad onto to Council property so that they could serve him with an AZBO! In that instance, a Council insider tipped us off and we managed to avoid this legal trap! As Moses Waveman always says – look toward the light – as that is the direction the answer to all your problems lie! Today, as he is 80 years old, my father states that he is mostly ‘light’ and that when what is left of his body finally transitions into pure consciousness – it will be time to leave this Earthly plane! THANK YOU Yannis Nicolaou and the Young People of Toorbay!
