Palestinian prisoners held by Israel have experienced brutal beatings, strip searches, threats of sexual assaults, denial of freedom to worship, pray and recite the Qur’an, deprivation of medical care, overcrowding, the reduction of already poor nutrition meals, starvation, the cutting of water and electricity, denial of warm clothes, and the deprivation of visits from family members, legal representatives, and humanitarian groups. Gaza prisoners face all these in addition to continuous torture where other prisoners hear their heart breaking screaming day and night. Some prisoners are missing and it is unknown if they are even still alive.
“While the world focuses on 136 Israelis held in Gaza they ignore 7,000 Palestinians held and abused by Israel. This discrimination is a grave injustice.” The ISM is passing the call of the families to you: “For all the free people, be the light of the prisoners’ darkness and their loud voice in all forums, they are addressing your consciences from the borders and edges of death.”
The officials say they privately expressed concerns about human rights abuses by Israel to leaders of their governments and institutions but have been ignored.
“Our governments’ current policies weaken their moral standing and undermine their ability to stand up for freedom, justice and human rights globally,” the statement says.
“There is a plausible risk that our governments’ policies are contributing to grave violations of international humanitarian law, war crimes and even ethnic cleansing or genocide.”
The signatories called on their governments to “stop asserting to the public that there is a strategic and defensible rationale behind the Israeli operation and that supporting it is in our countries’ interests.”
“We have received disturbing reports that despite being clearly identifiable in jackets and helmets marked “press” or traveling in well-marked press vehicles, journalists have come under attack, which would seem to indicate that the killings, injury, and detention are a deliberate strategy by Israeli forces to obstruct the media and silence critical reporting,” the UN experts said.
“Journalists are entitled to protection as civilians under international humanitarian law. Targeted attacks and killings of journalists are war crimes,” the experts warned.
The UN experts urged the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court to give particular attention to the dangerous pattern of attacks and impunity for crimes against journalists, which has intensified since October 7. “Targeting and killing of journalists in the Occupied Palestinian Territory must stop,” they said.
Furthermore, in pursuing this US-friendly policy – Qatar is acting in support of Zionist Israel whose US-supplied Airforce and missiles routinely ‘bomb’ the Syrian hinterland on a regular basis – and have done so for some years! Qatar is not alone in supporting Zionist Israel in Syria whilst opposing Zionist Israel in Palestine – as Turkey and Saudi Arabia are currently pursuing a similar US-friendly (anti-Socialist) foreign policy trajectory in Syria. How would these countries respond if Palestine became ‘free’ and declared itself an Arab Socialist Republic – just like Iran? Interesting food for thought and an interesting story recorded in Max Blumenthal’s book entitled ‘The Savagery of Violence’. Of course, I am no stranger in criticising Qatar and Al Jazeera – as my usual function is to counter Al Jazeera’s continuous attack upon Communist China – which is a staple of its ‘fake’ news coverage regarding the PRC!
The PFLP appreciates the great commitment of the Yemeni people (for the twelfth week in a row) to stand by the Palestinian people (and their valiant Resistance) in light of the continuing Zionist (genocidal) aggression against the Gaza Strip! Surely, this Yemeni steadfastness and courage has filled the cities of the world with hundreds of thousands pro-Palestinian protestors! Rather, millions took to the squares in huge, unprecedented demonstrations in support of the Palestinian Resistance, coinciding with military responses to the Zionist enemy and its allies, demonstrating the authenticity of the Yemeni people and the distinctiveness and boldness of their positions from the moment the aggression began, and their important impact in exhausting the enemy militarily and economically, despite all forms of aggression, siege, and threats.
