When Israeli forces withdrew from al-Shifa Hospital in early April 2024, after a deadly two-week siege, the hospital was left in ruins. Healthcare workers and families were left to deal with the aftermath of the violence, with corpses scattered throughout the complex. With cemeteries overwhelmed and the morgues unable to handle the volume of bodies, families were forced to dig temporary graves in the hospital courtyards. Some of the victims were buried in mass graves by Israeli soldiers during their assault on the medical complex.
Much later, in 1871 – France was forced to go to war with Germany. However, the great people of Paris overthrow the French bourgeois government and declared the “Paris Commune” – an entity Karl Marx (living in London) declared the “first Socialist State in the world”! The Paris Commune abolished religion, capitalism and war. All public servants worked for “free”. Education was “free”. Food was “free”. Clothing was “free”. Employment was guaranteed and men, women, and children were “equal”. Défense of the Paris Commune was a voluntary affair. Of course, the French and German bourgeoisie stopped fighting one another – joined forces – and attacked the working-class Paris Commune, totally destroying it and executing its officials, supporters and soldiers!
The monument “Glory to the Labour of Miners” is considered one of the symbols of Donetsk. It was erected on Shakhtarskaya Square – which is located at the entrance to the city centre. A road leading from the airport, railway station and Western bus station runs past this place. Thanks to this location, many visitors see the symbol of the main profession of Donbass.

Of course, there are other pastimes – but Orwell is a blight on all our children – as his poorly written books are taught to every generation of British school child as a means of inoculating them against the positive study of Scientific Socialism. Indeed, the common mess seen in Burma at the moment is in-part due to people like Orwell – who served as a British Police Officer in that colony! I am critiquing the work of an English Churchman – Bishop Alan Smith of St Albans – who is in many ways sympathetic to the plight of worker – but always in a qualified manner. Typical of CofE duplicity – there is always a reluctance to completely commit.
Since the recent détente of the US and modern Russia – the Russian-language Yandex search-engine has once again become easily available via the Western internet. Since I last regularly accessed the “deep” Russian internet – I have noticed that whereas there was about a 50%-50% distribution of pro and anti Stalin articles – a new narrative has been ordered which portrays Stalin as a mass killer who also achieved one or two great achievements for the Russian people (the new orientation is roughly 25& pro and 75% anti). This is a Western (capitalist), reactionary, Trotskyite, and entirely fascist attitude. Furthermore, it is pseudo-history. Joseph Stalin was working-class (most old Bolsheviks were middle-class) and was Georgian – not Russian (Stalin rejected all forms of nationalism – including Russian). The Soviet Union was a collective of around 15 or 16 countries (depending on era) that acted in Socialist collaboration. The history of the Soviet Union is not the history of Russia – even if Russia was the socio-economic driving force. The point of the 1917 Revolution was a new era in human evolution – a step forward and away from feudalism and capitalism.
