Although Buddhism is apolitical – in the rel world even an apolitical entity has a political function – even if that function involves the permanent position of ‘opposing’ any and all manifestations of human ignorance known as “political” structures! What are these structures? These unwanted structures are any manifestations premised upon greed, hatred, and delusion, and which function within the inverted world of dualistic being. Such constructs are inherently suffering producing and are not conducive to human happiness. This is why Buddhists strive to uproot greed, hatred, and delusion from their minds and bodies – and in so doing generate the conditions for a better outward world. Ghana: President Urges UN to Consider Reparations for Slave Trade! (22.9.2023)

“Reparations must be paid for the slave trade,” Akufo-Addo said to an eruption of applause.

“No amount of money will ever make up for the horrors, but it would make the point that evil was perpetrated, that millions of productive Africans were snatched from the embrace of our continent, and put to work in the Americas and the Caribbean without compensation for their labor,” he said.

He also called for the illicit flow of funds from Africa to be returned to the continent.

While the current picture on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals “is not very bright,” Akufo-Addo expressed the hope that “it is within our capacity to turn things around.”

A good start would be to make the needed changes to the structures of the United Nations, “then we can rebuild trust and reignite global solidarity,” he said.

US: Death of 53 Migrants in 2022 – 4 Charged in Texas 18-Wheeler Horror! (19.9.2023)

The tractor trailer with a fake plate was carrying 67 migrants when it was found on Monday, Francisco Garduno Yanez, head of Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

There was no sign of water in the refrigerated tractor-trailer and no visible working air conditioning unit, according to San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood. Those found alive were hot to the touch and suffering from heat stroke and exhaustion.

Temperatures in San Antonio climbed to 101 degrees Fahrenheit (38.3 degrees centigrade) on Monday, while the heat in the packed trailer was likely way higher than that, according to the U.S. National Weather Service.
