The USSR cut-off diplomatic ties with Israel in 1952 – but the Trotskyite Khrushchev reinstated them in 1956. In 1967 – after a massive Israeli land-grab in Palestine and Syria – the USSR (and Communist Bloc) severed all ties with Israel and this was the case until 1991.
