Mediterranean Migration Deaths: 25,000 “Missing” in One Year – 27 Die From One Boat! (14.8.2025)

More than 90 people were aboard the two boats before they capsized, Flavio Di Giacomo, spokesperson for the UN’s International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said.

The island of Lampedusa is home to a migrant reception centre that is often overcrowded with challenging living conditions. It welcomes tens of thousands of migrants who have survived the often dangerous route across the Mediterranean to Europe every year.

Those who make the journey often travel in poorly maintained and overcrowded vessels.

At least 25,000 people have gone missing or been killed while trying to cross the central Mediterranean since 2014, according to the IOM.

Japan: 80 Years on – Reckoning with War Remains Unfinished! (7.8.2025)

The voices underscored a national memory shaped more by the narrative of victimhood than by a full reckoning with the causes and consequences of war, which offered a glimpse into how Japan remembers and forgets its wartime past.

While the physical scars of nuclear devastation are meticulously documented in museums and memorials, Japan’s aggressive wartime conduct is conspicuously muted in both public discourse and state education.

Outside the official ceremony, anti-militarist demonstrators gathered near the atomic bombing site. Their placards decried Japan’s growing defence budget and the possibility of nuclear “sharing” with the U.S.

They were kept outside the formal event by riot police, while right-wing activists tried to drown them out with loudspeakers.

Know Your Salute!

Public Information Film: British People – Know Your Salute! (1.8.2025)

The British Army salute is performed by moving the right arm the longest way up – and bringing it the shortest way down. This is the ideal or optimum salute whilst standing on parade – or formally greeting a superior rank (such as Commission Officers). When meeting Sergeants (Serjeants) or WO2s (Warrant Officers 2nd Class) or WO1s (Warrant Officers 1st Class) – the soldier stands to attention – but does not salute. However, rules may vary according to Regiment or requirement.

Decoding the Spectre of “Freedom of Speech” in the Trump I & II Eras! (30.7.2025)

As the US is dominated by anti-intellectualism – the left has been completely deconstructed and re-invented into an alien concept premised upon the “devil” as found within Christian theology. Freedom of speech under Trump I and II is nothing less than the far-right saying anything it wants – and doing anything to anyone it prefers. Centrists bourgeois ideology is now viewed as “Communist” – with leftist and far-left rhetoric declared “Bolshevik” and “Marxist”. As the average US citizen knows NOTHING about Marxism, what the American far-right is discussing is nothing but its own deficient (and hate-filled) imagination. In many ways, the far-right hates itself and what it represents – in other words its own ugly reflection – and calls this hideous reality “Communism”. Of course, what the far-right represents has nothing to do with “Communism”. For Trump I and II – freedom of speech – is anything the far-right wants to say, with Communist oppression being any resistance to this fascism!

Shi Yongxin Accused of Making Giant Spliffs at Shaolin!

China: Shi Yongxin Rumours Light-Up Internet! (29.7.2025)

It was the Trotskyite Khrushchev who (copying the US) introduced the Death Penalty for Civil Crimes in 1959. The problem Khrushchev had was that no Soviet-educated Jury would inflict the Death Penalty – as they had been taught that the Czarist Authorities routinely used “Death” as a means of controlling and oppressing the workers. Karl Marx, of course was opposed to all forms of Death Penalty. He quite rightly said that the State does not possess the right to harm an individual’s body in anyway – and I agree (doubly as a Buddhist). Lenin was of the opinion that Marx only meant that the Death Penalty should not be applied to the workers – but can be applied to class enemies. Why Lenin thought this – I am not sure. Lenin was a trained lawyer after-all – so perhaps he is seeing something I cannot in the work of Marx. Of course, I do accept that in the time of brutal war – executions might be required – even if I personally disagree. Sometimes we have to separate our personal beliefs (disentangle them from exterior circumstance) if life is to flow-on unhindered. This is why we require a strong moral foundation to our characters and judgement. We must avoid self-indulgence and wayward harshness. If it is proven “true” that Shi Yongxin was defecting to the US and was preparing to condemn the Communist Party of China on the White House lawn whilst Vance and Trump chuckle away – then i could well see an execution taking place. Surely a demonstration of bad-karma if ever I’ve seen it!

China: Trump’s Announcement to Withdraw from UNESCO Not Responsible! (25.7.2025)

After the death of Roosevelt and the election of the right-wing Christian “Truman” post-WWII – overt US agitation against the “Internationalist” principles of the United Nations (UN) began with a vengeance on the grounds that “Internationalism” was a key ideological demand of the Soviet Socialist System. As the primary armed force which took-on, confronted, and then defeated Nazi Germany (and its allies) during WWII – the USSR had a substantial philosophical input in the post-WWII world order. At least for a few years after 1945 – before the US realised the true extent of the political power its deployed army throughout the world granted the White House.
