Researchers from the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted a study on the Shibantan Biota, a treasure trove of ancient fossils in Hubei. This fossil biota dates back approximately 550 to 543 million years. They identified several types of burrows made by worm-like animals, indicating that complex animal behaviours were already shaping the seafloor environment nearly 10 million years earlier than previously thought.
The Soviet version was unconvincing because they could not be sure. It seemed very important for their contemporary plans that Hitler remains dead and buried in the past! Despite the difficult circumstances, in an oral history played out loud to visitors, Margaret reminisces fondly about her time in the shelter.
“I had a wonderful time,” she explains. “I was an only child, and I made friends. We used to rush up and down the tunnels.
“People were all in the same boat down there. It was a great leveller. Whether you were rich, poor or whatever you were. If you were homeless.
“People were very kind to each other, much more than they are now. It’s funny isn’t it, that it takes a war to do that.”
After the end of the conflict, the shelters continued to be used as cheap hotel accommodation costing three shillings a night, equivalent to £4 today.
Guests at Clapham South included those who arrived in Britain from the Caribbean as part of the Windrush Generation.
But in 1956, after a fire at the Goodge Street station shelter, the Government decided to abandon the tunnels.
Today, they are mainly used as archive storage, although the tunnels under Clapham Common once housed a hydroponic farm.

While the Transatlantic Tunnel may be an ambitious, far-reaching concept that may never come to fruition in the near future, it sparks significant conversations about the future of international travel. Earlier in the day, the ministry called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to accompany a convoy of wounded people leaving from the Shifa Medical Complex to secure its passage until it reaches the south of the enclave and travel through the Rafah crossing with Egypt.
“We informed the International Committee of the Red Cross of the necessity of providing protection and safe passage for the wounded to exit, but it was unable to obtain the approval of the Israeli occupation,” the ministry said.
Israeli media reported that Israel has yet to comment on the incident but has previously stated that “the main command center of Hamas is located under the Shifa hospital.”
Meanwhile, the government media office in Gaza said that 10 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombing during their displacement from northern to southern Gaza on the Al-Rashid coastal road.
Hamas has no doubt that the Guerilla War tactics it employs will produce the complete defeat of the Zionist enemy throughout Palestine! Even after suffering three weeks of blanket-bombing and deprivation of food, water and electricity for over three weeks – the Freedom Fighters of Hamas are still able to mobilise and effectively engage the enemy! With such determination these people will surely prevail in the end!
