Be careful when you encounter pages such as this. Always take a step back and consider the situation. Take a breath and look at the situation from many different angles and perspectives. I am getting old now, and have a lifetime of experience to draw upon – but the young must be careful. Discerning correct dialectical trends from false dialectical trends is the entire point of a progressive education. The bourgeois know this and therefore continuously attempt to confuse matters and sully the water. Be careful and pick you way through life in a considered manner. As events have shown, when push came to shove, Iran (along with Russia) was quite happy to throw Ba’athist (secular) Syria under the bus and permit its takeover by ISIS. All this subterfuge has its origins in the deluded mindset of religiosity. These people literally believe that despite the negative weight of material conditions – those who believe in a disembodied sky-spirit will eventually (and magically) achieve a completely unexpected victory against all the odds. I once wrote that even if Palestine eventually prevailed against the Zionist Juggernaut – we would still be left with the religious problem of militant Islam (conditioned by decades of resistance to Zionist-fascism).

It is clear that both Russia and Iran have militarily (and politically) betrayed President Assad – a (secular) Socialist leader of Syria. Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the Presidency was scuppered when emails were leaked – stating that she wanted to (joyfully) “destroy” both Iran and Syria “for Israel”! This is an ongoing bourgeois plan developed through a mix and match approach – one that manoeuvres around the self-centred individuals that are “thrown-up” via the democratic process – and the fickle attitudes of the general public (which habitually swing toward and away from Israel – due to the strength of government-generated Islamophobia).

The typical (Christian) Monastic Rule states that on the day of the birth of Jesus Christ (Christmas Day), the monks, nuns and lay-observants (oblates), are solemn, humble, conscientious, profoundly aware, and committed to the structures of the Rule they follow. The interesting thing, however, is that the day of Christ’s birth is no more – and no less – significant than any other of the 364 days that exist throughout the year within the monastic cycle. Yes – various holy days (including Christmas Day) attract specific sermons and rituals – but these are inserted into the general daily framework of the Monastic Rule itself. Extra-food and extra-drink (outside of that already permitted by the Rule) is not allowed. A break from the daily round of monastic duty (outside the Rule) is not allowed. Finally, as the monastics and lay-observants own “nothing” (not even their robes) – there is never any giving of gifts (private property is not permitted under the Rule).

Ordinary peasants and aristocracy would get out of bed in the morning, work, eat, rest and go to bed at night according to the dictates of the Roman Catholic Church – the monasteries of which usually followed the Rule of St Benedict – or some similar Rule. Ordinary people did not have to learn how to tell the time – as the monastic orders told them what to do and when to d it. Following the “Dissolution” – secular society had to build their own clocks and learn to tell the time for themselves. This is how the measuring of “time” was rescued from the control of the Church. After 1539 – time no longer served God – but rather the lay-society that paid for and possessed the technical skills to construct the clocks! The policies of King Henry VIII – as mad as he may or may not have been (he had around 70,000 men and women hanged during his reign) – ushered the “modern” Britain that we now live within. I doubt, however, that Henry would have envisioned the end of absolute monarchy or the trivialising of the Church!

This is despite the anti-Soviet nonsense he spouts on page 114 – a line of Vatican propaganda that sullies a man who tolerates a qualified “atheism” in his monastery! Of course, this type of anti-Stalin invention can be dismissed by studying the Collective Works of Stalin (Stalin trained in the Seminary before becoming a Revolutionary) and the historical (academic) work of EH Carr, Alexander Werth and Grover Furr, etc. EH Carr does mention that following the Bolshevik Revolution, monks and priest were not allowed to vote in elections until after 1922 (the founding of the USSR) – but prior to 1917 – no one (ecclesiastical or lay) was allowed to vote for any reason outside the closed circle surrounding the Czar – and the oppressive feudal system he administered. Just as Catholic monks live under the “Dictatorship” of God, the Pope and their Abbot – monks and priests in the USSR possessed absolutely no rights prior to 1917! Andre Louf, as a professed Catholic monk, was NOT permitted by the Catholic Church to vote in any election. When the reality of his position is fully understood – then the magnitude of his ignorance becomes fully revealed. Even monastic masters are inclined to “lie” – perhaps that is what their God requires.
