The Day of the Unknown Soldier was established by the Presidential decree in 2014. The choice of date is symbolic: on 3 December 1966 the remains of an unidentified soldier who perished in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 were reinterred in the Alexander Garden beside the Kremlin wall. On 8 May 1967 the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was unveiled and the Eternal Flame was lit on the site, which became one of Russia’s central places of wartime remembrance.
The KKE quite correctly criticises modern Russia for its anti-Soviet activities that pervade far beyond the case of Boris Kagarlitsky – including the demonisation of Lenin, the Bolshevik Movement – and even the eulogising of a pro-Nazi Russian – Ivan Ilyin! Simply referring to Russia’s actions as “Imperialist” is Trotskyite in origin and intent. It dialectically solves nothing.
During the visit, the Delegation met with His Excellency the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon – Alexander Rudakov – and in the presence of the Russian Deputy Ambassador, The Delegates discussed the situation in Gaza, the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle, and the “Israeli” escalation – which targets hospitals, places of worship, women. children, and targets security personnel, schools, and shelter centres for the displaced, media professionals, ambulances, and medical teams, etc.
