Sportspersons and working people presented bouquets to the players and coaches who got off the plane with gold medals, and congratulated them, putting garlands around their necks.

Parents embraced their daughters with great pride and joy.

Women footballers left Pyongyang International Airport on an open vehicle decorated with flowers.

The streets of Pyongyang were filled with the fervent atmosphere of welcoming the young footballers who excited the women’s football world again.

They extended thanks to the cheering citizens, reminding themselves of the time when they played games, warmly encouraged by all the people across the country.

The pair were saluted by a string of military guards atop snow-white horses before making their way past a group of adoring children clutching balloons and waving and smiling at the two great leaders. Other revellers were seen touting huge portraits of the Russian President standing beside the Russian flag – the colours of which adorned the facades of buildings around the square. The ceremony also gave Kim a chance to introduce Putin to a host of key figures in his Politburo, including Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui; top aide and ruling party secretary Jo Yong Won; and his powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong, who besides her role as chief ideologue has in recent months become a fiery-tongued resister to US oppression. After touring the square, Kim and Putin then travelled together to Pyongyang’s Kumsusan State Guest House, North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said, for their first talks together on North Korean soil.

In May 1947, September 3rd became a working day, although no one formally cancelled the holiday. And on December 23rd, May 9th also became a working day (the day off was moved to January 1st). And until 1965, there were no big celebrations on the occasion of the two days of victory in the USSR: everything was limited to fireworks and unofficial celebrations. When in 1965 – the year of the 20th Anniversary of the Victory – the country celebrated this holiday on a nationwide scale for the first time after the Great Patriotic War, they no longer remembered the second day of the Victory (Over Japan). It found itself in the shadow of the Victory Over Germany, although formally on May 9th all Veterans were honoured: both those who fought in the West and those who fought in the Far East. And over time, May 9th began to personify the Soviet Victory in World War II in general, and almost no one remembered the September date. And if, nevertheless, there was talk about Victory Over Japan, then only September 2nd was mentioned – as the day of Japanese Surrender.

On the same day Kim Jong Un hosted a luncheon for the party and government delegation of the PRC.

Present there were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., WPK, Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the C.C., WPK, Choe Son Hui, minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Song Nam, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the C.C., WPK.

At the luncheon, Kim Jong Un proposed a toast to the eternal development of socialism in the two countries, longevity and good health of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the successful DPRK visit of the party and government delegation of the PRC led by Zhao Leji.

Kim Jong Un had pleasant chats with Zhao Leji and other members of the delegation in a harmonious and friendly atmosphere, further deepening friendship.

The luncheon proceeded in a harmonious and warm atmosphere.

He said that at the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee which clarified the orientation of the struggle for 2023, the General Secretary unfolded a grand construction operation to build the second-stage district of the Hwasong area into a peculiar street of modern beauty and, on the day of ground-breaking, he broke ground first. He visited the construction site again before the completion and meticulously led the builders to carry out the finishing process, to be impeccable even in the distant future, the speaker said.

Indeed, the newly-built Rimhung Street is a fruition of Kim Jong Un’s ardent sincerity to make the whole process of creation and construction consistent with the absolute service for the people and provide the people with only the best things in the world, he said, adding that it is a monumental architecture to convey the world of the nobleness and warmth of the people-first idea to posterity.

The art troupe visiting Pyongyang to deepen the feelings of friendship and solidarity between the peoples of the DPRK and China is made up of more than 300 persons, and comprises prestigious art organizations and famous actors and actresses of China.

It was warmly greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by officials of the DPRK Ministry of Culture and the Art Exchange Association of Korea and the minister and staff members of the Chinese Embassy here.

The DPRK Ministry of Culture hosted a reception at Yanggakdo International Hotel on Tuesday evening in welcome of the Chinese artistic missions.
