Thousands of Columbia University Alumni Pledge to Withhold All Contributions to School Until Pro-Palestinian Student Demands Are Met!

“I sign because my Jewish values of inquiry, empathy and moral courage compel me to,” said an alumna of CC ’03 and CLS ’10 who grew up in both New York and Jerusalem. “These values were nurtured in Columbia classrooms, and I know other Columbia students share them. Until my university can conduct itself in accordance with those values internally, within its communities, and around the world, it does not deserve my esteem, much less contributions of my time, money or skills.”

The alumni letter follows the University’s unprecedented aggressive actions against pro-Palestine student protesters, including suspensions and expulsion processes with inadequate due process.

Last week, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of San Francisco initiated an intimidation campaign against John Avalos, former member of the SF Board of Supervisors and current director of San Francisco’s leading affordable housing coalition, the Council of Community Housing Organizations. JCRC’s immediate goal is to punish Avalos for speaking out about Israel’s genocide in Gaza. But more broadly, this is part of their larger effort to stifle all critique of Israel by mischaracterizing it as antisemitic. JCRC has a long-history of such campaigns, usually targeting people of color-led social justice organizations that take a stand in support of Palestinian rights.

Since 1948, Palestinians have had to flee while resisting so that they could stay as much as possible in their own homes on their own land, and for their own self-determination. Dr Meyer called for a return of Palestine to Palestinians and a return of Judaism to the ethics of “do unto others.” We stand on the history of Jewish participation in struggles for our collective liberation. We stand with the right of Palestinians to their collective self-defence. We stand against genocide, whether the genocide that killed many of our families, or the genocide we are witnessing. The majority of the world is against this genocide. Internationally, many are showing up and protesting, calling out the US, UK, and EU, who are backing Israel’s genocidal plan with their arms, propaganda, and censorship. We stand with the majority. No genocide in our name. We say never again for anyone. We invite other Jews of Conscience to join us in demanding an immediate end to the escalating genocide in Palestine.

This lady possesses the education and status that working-class people do not – and has been able to defend herself in a manner that the average worker would be unable to do. She has stood her moral ground when the entire ‘White’ system was against her! Mark Chambers on Hunger Strike – Justice for Children – Sutton

Mark Chambers explained to me that due to the fact that he has separated from his partner, local Social Workers, acting in conjunction with the Family Court, have prevented him from having access to his four children. This is despite the fact that he has proven in Court that the allegations levelled against him by Social Workers (such as he ‘hates women’), are false and have no substance in reality.
