Questioning the mythology of religion is an important and vital aspect of ‘freedom of thought’ and does not constitute an ‘attack’ upon religiosity. Questioning the legitimacy of religious belief is an important component of a liberal society as it prevents religious groupings from ‘justifying’ criminal acts based solely upon the idea that an ‘immunity’ from prosecution is in effect premised upon the mere holding of a ‘religious’ belief! A ‘religious’ and ‘irreligious’ individual, (living within a Bourgeois State), should be held liable for their actions in front of exactly the same Secular Law. To this end, this is a text rich in insight written by a young Karl Marx just out of University and on the brink of marrying Jenny Westphalia. Perhaps there is something of the love and light euphoria of those times – which emanates from the pen of Marx!

I have heard a number of Slavic academics stating that they believe that some of the patterning on the exterior of the Great Shigir Idol constitutes a written ‘language’. If correct, this finding would constitute the world’s ‘oldest’ written language! I am not adverse to this idea and I believe such a suggestion requires further investigation! Based upon the mythology of the Ugrians, Natalia Chairkina sees in these images a reflection of a vertical model of the universe logically divided into the Upper, Middle and Lower worlds (similar to the ‘trigram’ and ‘hexagram’ of the Chinese book ‘Classic of Change’) – which accommodate seven spheres of empty space. Archaeologist Peter Van Petersen of the National Museum of Denmark has suggested that the idol may have served as a warning at the border of a forbidden territory to scare off invaders or undesirables – or to test the courage of an individual or group. A number of Archaeological experts also note the similarity of design with the monumental stone ruins in Göbekli Tepe in Turkey (which is of a similar age). As many of the marking are both difficult to see and ambiguous in design – it is currently very difficult to produce a definitive interpretation. The best policy is for everyone to ‘look’ at this remarkable structure themselves – and up their own mind. Conventional science has already proven its improbable age! Let’s follow Lenin’s example and sit in our kitchens and ‘think’ great thoughts!

Yunnan: China Protects Asian Elephants! (13.9.2022)

The Management Bureau of the Reserve said that monitoring data showed that the baby elephants born during the northward journey are growing up and finding independence. In January, another baby elephant was born at the Reserve. Since then, the herd of elephants have moved deep into the forests in Mengyang and are rarely seen.

Chen Fei, Director of the Asian Elephant Research Centre under the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, said that the efforts made by the Chinese government and local residents have served as a vivid example of China’s determination to promote harmony between man and nature, providing a warm-hearted example for global wildlife conservation.

“Helping the herd go home does not signal the end of our efforts. There is still a long way to go to protect Asian elephants and their habitats,” said Chen, adding that Asian elephants have been included in the list of 48 critically endangered species under emergency protection during China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

Earlier in a press conference on Friday, responding to Xinhua on carbon emission by the developed countries for centuries, Guterres called for effective support from the developed world to the most impacted developing countries to build resilience and adapt to the circumstances.

“This is not a matter of generosity. This is a matter of justice,” he said.

The secretary-general on Saturday, along with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other officials, visited the flood-affected parts of Pakistan’s southern Sindh and southwest Balochistan provinces.

Apart from visiting the UNESCO’s World Heritage site of Mohenjo Daro in Sindh, which got damaged from the floods, he also met the displaced people in Sindh and Balochistan.
