The Pentagon explained that the exercise is necessary to “to demonstrate the readiness of U.S. nuclear forces and provide confidence in the lethality and effectiveness of the nation’s nuclear deterrent”.
This is a routine test, which the US authorities informed Russia about in accordance with the Hague Code of Conduct.
