“We didn’t plan to come to Rome for the city’s birthday but seeing all this is a great way to spend part of a day, taking it all in,” Loria told Xinhua. “I especially enjoyed seeing the contrasts, the period costumes in a modern city.”

Though the origins of Sunday’s celebrations date back centuries, the events have caught on with travellers as tourism in Italy has recovered from the setbacks of the coronavirus pandemic.

There are no official estimates for the number of people who participated in Sunday’s activities, media reports said the city had deployed extra police for security and traffic control. Hotel bookings were higher than usual for the weekend, media reports said.

One tactic the Local Councils use to assist the tyranny of private land-lords is to have disputed properties declared “unfit for habitation” – and begin eviction and/or demolition procedures. Once tenants (or even “Owners”) are out of the properties – quite often the Local Council hands back the property to the Landlord and STOP all punitive action – as if the condemned buildings have suddenly repaired themselves! I know this because it happened to my parents – who live in Torquay. The rule of law only matters when the Local Authorities want us to do something – the rule of law is quietly ignored when it clashes with the corrupt will of the rich!

‘Last month, Stephen Keenan, aged 39 and from Dublin, drowned while overseeing a dive by the freediving world record holder Alessia Zecchini. While attempting to cross “the arch” of the Red Sea’s notorious Blue Hole using only a single breath, the 25-year-old Italian became disoriented. Keenan rushed to her aid and guided her to the surface. She made it out unharmed but he blacked out and was found floating face down some distance away.

Israel has awarded 12 licences to six companies for the purpose of exploring natural gas off its Mediterranean coast, in an apparent bid to diversify the country’s energy suppliers and nurture more competition as Tel Aviv aims to become an energy hub to export gas to Europe.

The licences were given to the likes of the Italian company Eni (ENI.MI), the Korean subsidiary Dana Petroleum, the United Kingdom’s British Petroleum (BP), as well as Israel’s Ratio Energies (RATIp.TA), which will explore an area west of the Leviathan field, the site which both supplies Israel with gas and provides exports.

According to Israel’s Energy Minister, Israel Katz, on Sunday: “The winning companies have committed to unprecedented investment in natural gas exploration over the next three years, which would hopefully result in the discovery of new natural gas reservoirs.”

In his work Gramsci talked of taking over already existing Bourgeois establishments and ‘transforming’ them from within. In this method, Gramsci seemed to be advocating that an outright external (disruptive) Revolution was not required in the material world – only through a slow but continuous process of internal ‘gutting’ which sees the Bourgeois innards fully extracted and replaced with Proletariat equivalents! For Gramsci, the Revolution happens right under the nose of the Bourgeoisie – who cannot resist or prevent it because they possess NO idea that it is happening! The difference is that there were political leaders who dared to take the decision, including Saudi King Faisal, who was neither a Revolutionary nor even a Democrat. He was an ally of the United States, but his moral fervour towards Egypt and Syria led him to be the first to implement the embargo, in which Algeria, Iraq, Kuwait, the Emirates, and Qatar participated. It lasted from October 1973 to March 1974 and taught the supporters of the usurping Nazi-Zionist entity an unforgettable lesson. Today, under the rule of regimes whose leaders lack independence of decision-making, boldness and magnanimity, the only Arab peoples who are calling for imposing such a ban – are doing so on the streets – during protests!
