Hyphen: “Overwhelming” Bias Revealed in New Report on UK Media’s Coverage of Israel-Palestine Conflict! (15.3.2024)

Researchers at the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM), an arm of the Muslim Council of Britain, examined nearly 177,000 broadcast clips and 25,515 online news articles published between 7 October and 7 November 2023. The broadcasts were from 13 channels operated by media organisations including Al Jazeera English, the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky News and right wing outlets GB News and TalkTV.

The CfMM report, Media Bias: Gaza 2023-2024, also examined news websites published by 28 media organisations including the New Statesman, Economist, Daily Mail, Sun, Mirror, Independent, Guardian, Times, BBC and iNews.

They found that broadcasters referenced Israeli perspectives almost three times as much as Palestinians (4,311 times vs 1,598), while online news outlets presented Israeli perspectives almost twice as much (2,983 times vs 1,737).

On broadcast channels, “Israel’s right to defend itself” was promoted on 1,482 occasions, while the rights of Palestinians were mentioned 278 times, a ratio of 5 to 1.

At the UNSC meetings on the Ukrainian and Syrian issues, etc., the U.S. failed to attain its sinister purpose because of a permanent member state’s exercise of its veto. So the U.S. held a plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly, at which it incited collective pressure while talking about the “irresponsibility”, and even cried out for depriving a permanent member state of its position as a permanent member state.

But the situation has changed due to the Middle East situation last year.

The indiscriminate military attacks of Israel are killing many Palestinian civilians even at this moment, and Gaza Strip has been turned into a slaughterhouse and living hell.

The international community is being stunned by such horrible humanitarian tragedy and even its allies are turning their backs on the U.S. patronizing Israel.

Therefore, when reporting on this issue – it becomes something of a skill choosing ‘when’ and ‘what’ to publish – without falling into the trap of ‘trivialising’ Zionist mass-murder through ‘repetition’. Whilst I ‘adjust’ US English into British English (Xinhua) – I find myself having to ‘collect’ and ‘save-up’ the macabre Israeli massacres for such a time when their ‘group’ presentation becomes ‘meaningful’ – beyond the usual drone of the background noise that defines the (amoral) international news machine (within which – a greater ‘death’ count – results in a ‘higher’ income). I refuse to accept the flawed capitalist notion that ‘Genocide’ should equate to ‘Commerce’.

The statement said the occupation is implementing a long-term plan to plunder surface and groundwater resources and use them as a means of blackmail against the Palestinians.

The Arab League said that these actions constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity in accordance with international law and humanitarian norms, adding that the deliberate destruction of infrastructure in Gaza has affected most of the facilities and infrastructure.

It revealed that the percentage of potable water available today to the population does not exceed more than 15 percent of what it was before the aggression, which is considered a death sentence for hundreds of thousands.

However, the ‘London Recruits’ who travelled to fight the Apartheid in South Africa during the 1970s – was a British ‘Communist Party’ initiative – one of the few post-1945 initiatives that advocated directly opposing certain extreme elements of the Bourgeois Establishment. Khrushchev’s betrayal of Stalin during 1956 (and 1961) caused all kinds of divisions throughout the International Communist Party. I think that before he committed himself to the Bourgeois Labour Party – George Galloway was a Communist. Indeed, most of the videos of Galloway expressing pro-Communist ideas have subsequently been removed from the internet. The ‘new’ Galloway is Islamic-bigotry friendly – and whilst he works to eradicate gays and trans from society – he might grant you one or two Socialist attributes and reforms. He might even throw you a football to keep you quiet. Only the call to prayer will disrupt the game – but only if the local clock is working on the Town Hall!

On Feb. 11, Israel bombed a dwelling house of refugees, killing dozens of innocent inhabitants. The next day it killed civilians by mobilizing planes, tanks and warships.

As a result of Israel’s rash acts, over 100 people were killed and hundreds of civilians including women and children were injured in Rafah City and its surrounding areas on Feb. 12 alone.

When recalling once again that a spokesperson for the Israeli military unhesitatingly said that it is a “very effective rate” to kill two people in order to kill one Hamas militant, one can know clearly that the present situation is a purposeful and conscious act of Israel to exterminate the Palestinian nation.

The mayor of Rafah City expressed concerns, saying that “Israel’s bombing is being intensified over the past few hours, which serves as preparations for military operation in the city”.
