Xi said that China will continue to work with the international community to end the war and stop the killing, support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in continuing to provide humanitarian assistance to the Gaza people, and bring the question of Palestine back to the right track of the two-State solution to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement at an early date.

Regarding the challenges and requests submitted by the Israeli occupation authorities, the Court said that the Chamber received two requests submitted by Israel on 26 September 2024. In the first request, Israel challenged the Court’s jurisdiction over the situation in the State of Palestine in general, and over “Israeli nationals” more specifically, on the basis of Article 19(2) of the Statute. In the second request, Israel requested the Chamber to order the Prosecution to submit a new notification of the commencement of an investigation to its authorities under Article 18(1) of the Statute. Israel also requested the Chamber to stay any proceedings before the Court in the relevant situation, including the consideration of the requests for arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Galant.

“These requests were made after an independent investigation, based on verifiable and objective evidence, thoroughly examined in a judicial process,” Khan stated.

He continued, “I call on all states parties to the Rome Statute to fulfill their obligations by respecting and complying with these judicial orders. We also look forward to the cooperation of non-party states in advancing accountability and supporting international law.”

The ICC Prosecutor also confirmed that his office continues its “independent and impartial investigations into the situation in the State of Palestine,” with a focus on areas under ICC jurisdiction, including Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
