Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a news conference in Beijing on Monday that such actions “only expose the hegemony and hypocrisy of the U.S.,” adding that the U.S. “should behave the way a major country should”.

“It has always been the practice of the U.S. to manipulate social media to spread false information, poison the public opinion environment, and smear the image of other countries. China firmly objects to this,” Lin said.

He added that when Washington wants to contain and suppress a country, it ignores the truth and “coordinates resources” to smear and discredit it. “This applies not only to the fabrication and dissemination of false information about Chinese vaccines, but also to various aspects, including defaming the popular Belt and Road Initiative and spreading rumours about the ‘overcapacity’ of China’s new energy vehicles.

“The international community should keep clear-eyed about such U.S. behaviour,” he said.

A similar situation exists today – with all your emails, posts and other written sources of data uploaded onto the internet. All is observed, recorded and filed away by your National Governments – which report to the US.

He mentioned that China’s upcoming Chang’e-6 mission is expected to collect samples in the Apollo Basin within the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side of the moon, which means materials ejected from ancient terrain may be collected in the process. “Our map can provide a macroscopic geologic background to improve the purpose and efficiency of the sample research,” Liu explained.

The compilation of this map was an immense task, which required the organization and cooperation of many well-informed researchers over many years to be able to achieve a consistent and complete result, commented Gregory Michael, a senior scientist from the Free University of Berlin in Germany.

“This map, in particular, is the first on a global scale to utilize all of the post-Apollo era data. It builds on the achievements of the international community over the last decades, as well as on China’s own highly successful Chang’e program. It will be a starting point for every new question of lunar geology, and become a primary resource for researchers studying lunar processes of all kinds,” Michael added.

At 10:40 a.m., Kong Changsheng, chairman of the Henan Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, announced the conclusion of the Memorial Ceremony, which was witnessed by about 5,000 attendees, including representatives from all walks of life and reporters from nearly 100 media organizations.

The grand Memorial is not only a cultural event, but also a platform for cooperation and exchanges aimed at promoting mutually beneficial development. This year’s ceremony was held alongside an event for business negotiation and investment promotion, through which a number of project agreements were signed.

It has been a tradition in China since the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (770-221 BC) to worship the Yellow Emperor.

In 2008, the Memorial Ceremony was inscribed onto the national list of intangible cultural heritage of China.

The seminar heard speeches on such themes as “The revolutionary ideology of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un is an immortal banner safeguarding independence and justice and guaranteeing a rosy future of humankind”, “Let us build a new world of independence and justice through unity and cooperation”, “Independence, justice and future of humankind” and “African countries should struggle against neo-colonialism with the independent idea as their guideline”.

The speakers said that independence is the only way for a nation to live and for a country to prosper and this is the truth proven by history, adding that only when independence is maintained can the genuine dignity of a nation and the happy future of rising generations be guaranteed.

They unanimously affirmed that an important way for strengthening the anti-imperialist independent forces is to further rev up the atmosphere of struggle of suppressing the high-handed and arbitrary practices of the U.S. imperialists and reactionaries in the international arena by intensifying solidarity with all countries aspiring after justice under the ideas of independence, peace and friendship.

China: Lunar Space Programme Targets Resources! (12.3.2024)

Yang is widely known for leading the design work on the Chang’e 5 robotic spacecraft that fulfilled China’s first lunar sample retrieval mission.

He was speaking on the side-lines of the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, which concluded in Beijing on Sunday. He is a member of the CPPCC National Committee, the top political advisory body in China.

China began its lunar programme in 2004 and has launched six robotic probes since 2007. The most recent mission, Chang’e 5, landed on the moon in December 2020 and soon brought 1,731 grams of lunar rocks and soil back to Earth, achieving a historic accomplishment about 44 years after the last lunar substances were brought back from our nearest celestial neighbour.
