Speaking about the current influenza in China, Guo, the spokesman, said winter is usually the season with a higher frequency of respiratory infections in the Northern Hemisphere, and influenza viruses are one of the common pathogens.

“At the moment, the scale and intensity of infectious respiratory disease epidemics in China are lower than those of the same period last year,” Guo said.

He emphasized that the Chinese government has always attached great importance to the health of its own people and foreign nationals in China.

In addition to the country’s sentinel surveillance of a wide range of acute respiratory infectious diseases and the publication of the results, China’s experts in disease control have also introduced scientific protective measures on many occasions, he noted.

China also maintains close communication with the WHO to share timely information on respiratory diseases, he added.

“Good nursing is crucial for people with Alzheimer’s disease,” said PUMCH doctor Gao Jing, adding that a healthy lifestyle and medication are also important to fight the disease.

To boost the provision of nursing services, the plan also outlines a model integrating home, community and institution-based care for senile dementia, and encourages the construction of caregiving facilities in rural and urban communities.

By 2030, dedicated care units for seniors with dementia will account for 50 percent of elderly care institutions with over 100 beds and adequate services capabilities, and 15 million people will be trained for dementia care, according to the plan.

Migratory humans used to “walk” thousands of miles whilst following the good weather and the shifting herds. All humans, men, women and children, as well as the young, old, and ill, would participate in these massive migrations – with the lower speed ensuring the greater survival rate over-all. Yes – those who could run fast over long or short distances had their place – but such abilities were considered peripheral to the needs of tribal survival.
