UK: Weird News from England – Graveyard-Shift Nearly Kills Council Worker! (3.4.2026)

If this is not an April Fool’s news-article – it probably should be. It has been reported on the BBC – but I am not too sure – as it is so relentlessly ridiculous. On the other hand, things like this occur throughout the UK due to cost-cutting, lack of training, privatisation, and a general lack of care and attention. When I was young, and being trained to work on factory equipment, the older man who was training us as teens – told us a story about an inattentive worker who shut his testicles in a drawer. We believed at the time, as most of us were around 16-years old and had only just left home. We were all stood in grey overalls trying to work it all out. Driving a sit-down lawn-mower near a steep drop – or manoeuvring it across a not too strong (and obviously under-pressure) brick-wall holding in tonnes of bone-infested soil, seems to me to be a very stupid thing to do. If the story is true – then it is only by luck that no one was walking down the street at the time. Of course, we used to be sacked for life-endangering stupidity – but in today’s world – the worker is compensated and rewarded. In the old days, the deficient worker would be re-trained and moved away to work somewhere else – where nobody knew him. This is how the workers placated the management and bourgeoisie. I wouldn’t be surprised if this worker was not given his own rural church – and a sit-down mower to drive round all-day to his heart’s content – with a fire-engine and ambulance standing by – just in case!

Sutton: St Nicholas Church – Feeding Squrrels & Pigeons! (21.9.2025)

We visited the Church-yard of St Nicholas Church on the 14.9.2025 – a pleasant Saturday afternoon in South-West London (formerly East Surrey). At the moment we are experiencing what we use to call an “Indian Summer” – providing this is still an acceptable analogy (who knows – the ground upon which we stand keeps dissolving into loose sand). Either way, communing with wild animals teaches children empathy, sympathy, and kindness. This is inter-species communication – a very important aspect of a civilised upbringing and education. From a superstitious Buddhist view – all life is karmically inter-related following endless cycles of rebirth (bundles of life-habit living through all different life-forms until the realisation of enlightenment breaks the cycle). Is this real? I have no idea – but the Buddha seems to think rebirth is a Brahmanic myth – but it is a myth which he uses to convey his teaching and make his point, etc.

Report: Ghost Hunting in North Devon! (29.8.2025)

With most of the lights off by 11pm, I sat on my religious chair (the Church dates back to the 14th century – and so does the chair). I cleared my mind and immersed myself into the ancient nature of the stone-work. The stone was cool to the touch – I went bare-foot to ground myself – and felt the calm structure of the place. No fear, no deception, and nothing to worry about, Although I neither support or oppose theology – I sensed the spiritual feel that all the attendees developed and projected into rge physical structure of the place. In many places in the UK, the Christians deliberately built their Churches on already existing Pagan sites of ancient spirituality – with nothing to do with a Christian god. The mistake that Christians make is that their own mind creates the religion they believe in – but they mistakenly believe that their religion exists “outside” their heads, independent of the mind that generates it. The perception is inverted and the wrong way around.
