China: Beijing Blasts False Claims Regarding HMPV Infection! (11.1.2025)

Speaking about the current influenza in China, Guo, the spokesman, said winter is usually the season with a higher frequency of respiratory infections in the Northern Hemisphere, and influenza viruses are one of the common pathogens.

“At the moment, the scale and intensity of infectious respiratory disease epidemics in China are lower than those of the same period last year,” Guo said.

He emphasized that the Chinese government has always attached great importance to the health of its own people and foreign nationals in China.

In addition to the country’s sentinel surveillance of a wide range of acute respiratory infectious diseases and the publication of the results, China’s experts in disease control have also introduced scientific protective measures on many occasions, he noted.

China also maintains close communication with the WHO to share timely information on respiratory diseases, he added.

China: Foreign Use of Spy-Satellites Thwarted! (25.10.2024)

In recent years, state security bodies worked with relevant departments to handle cases in which foreign spies tried to steal secrets in China’s space sector, effectively suppressing foreign intelligence agencies’ espionage attempts, the ministry said.

State security departments will continue to use concrete measures to safeguard China’s rights, security and interests in space, it added.

Information previously published by the ministry shows that the space sector is a focal point for Western intelligence agencies that spy on China. Their agents target scientists, designers and technicians working for State-owned contractors and have turned a handful of employees into traitors, including a senior missile designer who was exposed in 2007.

The latest spy case involving China’s space industry that has been made public was disclosed in April 2023.

Zhao Xuejun, a researcher at a State-owned institute, was approached by foreign spies while he was studying overseas and then was recruited. After returning to China, he continued to work for the foreign intelligence organization and delivered a large number of classified documents.

Portraying China’s manufacturing capacity as a global risk, this narrative is a variant of the “China threat” rhetoric, with its toxic seed germinating in the hotbed of the West’s anxiety, or probably fear, due to China’s manufacturing rise.

From a low-cost manufacturing base to the world’s largest manufacturing powerhouse and an up-and-coming leader in advanced industries and innovation, China’s rapid elevation has unsettled some Western countries, who perceive it as an intolerable challenge to their industrial and trade dominance.

Responding to China’s manufacturing prowess with such apprehension smacks of hypocrisy and also ignores basic economics. China’s production capacity was seemingly not a problem at a time when many Western corporations capitalized on the country’s low-cost original equipment manufacturer (OEM) production capabilities.

Neither was it a problem when Western superiority was underlined by China having to sell a billion pairs of socks to buy a Boeing airplane, nor when China’s spare-parts production abilities helped propel worldwide sales of high-value-added products such as Apple iPhones.
