Jagdishbhai, Minaxiben Patel and their adult children, Alpesh and Parul Patel, have been ordered to pay £929,621 between them for converting a Greenford Avenue (pictured) property into multiple flats without permission and continuing to let them out in defiance of enforcement notices. The money they must pay includes a confiscation order of £900,217 plus fines, victim surcharges and prosecution costs.

Having examined the Chinese language online sources – it does seem that this story is true. It seems that it dates back to late 2012 – but every so often (even in China) – it is re-printed with elaborations and revelations which were not in the original story. I did read in the comments beneath one version that the family involved are in fact “Korean-Chinese” – and this is why the woman involved paid for her plastic surgery to be carried-out in South Korea. My instincts were that this is “fake” as it opposes the Socialist laws on equality and those supporting the rights of women and girls. Of course, it could be fake, but I have included a number of Chinese language versions as well as a YouKu news article. Usually, the Chinese State “removes” all fake news and as it has not moved to do this – this suggests this story is true. It is disgusting that a woman and/or a child would be considered “ugly” – as this is a body-fascist attitude contrary to all Socialist ideology.
Chen is taking all the criticism – and I am not condoning her actions – but we must be careful in allotting blame. Remember, misogyny is also completely illegal in Socialist China and Chinese Muslims live very good and productive lives – although this fictional video (now “banned”) is obviously supposed to look as if it is outside of China. China has modified so quickly under the CPC that its people are still learning to come to terms with modernity, technology, and wealth. This is no excuse for bad behaviour, however, and I think these two will be punished, but only in a moderate manner (indeed, they were “fined”). Being ignorant and disrespectful of others (particularly those stuck in lesser socio-economic conditions) is only counted as “freedom” in the capitalist West.
