China: New “Socialist” Laws Empower People with Disabilities! (9.1.2024)

Addressing the most urgent needs of people with disabilities, the document listed 11 key tasks required, which include improving the public legal services network for the disabled, making legal aid accessible for more disabled people, organizing activities of support such as provision of non-profit legal services, and reduction or scrapping of fees for legal services for disabled people.

The UK’s “debt trap” rhetoric is not based on facts. China’s investment and financing cooperation with fellow developing countries is carried out in compliance with international rules, market laws and the principle of debt sustainability and has been widely welcomed, according to Mao.

Mao stressed it is a handful of Western countries who have been spreading the fallacy of “Chinese debt traps”. The multilateral financial institutions and commercial creditors these countries dominate are the major creditors of developing countries and constitute the major source of stress for them in terms of debt repayment. They are the ones that need to make substantive contributions to easing developing countries’ debt burden. 

“We call on the UK to reject the Cold War mentality, stop spreading ‘China threat’ narratives, look at China and China-UK relations in an objective and rational light, and work with China for the sound and steady development of bilateral ties,” the spokesperson said.

DPRK: International Day of Persons with Disabilities! (6.12.2023)

A video explaining the extensive achievements made in the Protection of the Rights of Disabled living in the DPRK this year – was shown at this meeting.

An art group of the Korean Art Association of the Disabled then gave a performance of the patriotic song entitled “We Love Our Country!”

Prior to the main meeting – the participants attended an exhibition of photographs showing the happy life of People with Disabilities! Such Comrades are deeply valued and lead a life full of blessings under the best Socialist System the DPRK can provide! (End)

Ningxia: China’s Disabled People Strive to Achieve Self-Reliance! (5.11.2023)

The disabled community in Ningxia has garnered significant social attention for its impressive achievements in sports. During the recently concluded 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, athletes from Ningxia achieved notable success.

To nurture the artistic talents of disabled youths, the regional government has also decided to give a subsidy of 10,000 yuan to each of such individuals with abilities in singing, dance, opera and painting.

Ma Juan, a student from Xiji County in Ningxia, is a gifted painter who has received government financial assistance to attend an art school. All her family members are disabled due to a genetic disease.

“It is our responsibility to ensure she has the opportunity to pursue a career,” said Bai Xuegui, the county’s Party chief.

Australia: New Report Finds People with Disabilities Facing “High Rates of Abuse & Exploitation”! (29.9.2023)

The blogger draws a parallel between the treatment of disabled people in Australia and the controversial policies of the UK’s Tory and LibDems Coalition Government (2010-2015), accused of ‘Crimes Against Humanity’ by a UN investigation for drastic cuts to support for people with disabilities. The blogger notes that this deprivation led to significant fatalities among disabled individuals. They compare the situation to Australia, where a landmark report calls for major reforms to make the country more inclusive for disabled people. The report, based on a four-and-a-half-year inquiry, recommended 222 changes, including passing a Disability Rights Act and ending segregated education by 2051.

Tibet: Special Education Provides Love for Disabled Children!

Founded in 2013, Nagqu Special Education School is the first comprehensive special education school in Nagqu City for children and teenagers with various types of disabilities — visually impaired, deaf, dumb and mental disabilities. In May 2022, a second special education school was established in Nagqu. It focuses on hearing, speaking and visually impaired students, while the first one has become a school for students with mental disabilities.
