Namibia Condemns Germany for Offering to Defend Israel in ICJ Genocide Case! (18.1.2024)

On Friday, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit rebuffed South Africa’s accusations against Israel at the ICJ hearings, which took place in the Hague. He said in a post on X that Berlin “firmly rejects the accusation of genocide made against Israel. It has no basis whatsoever”.

He added that his country “will therefore speak as a third party in the main hearing before the International Court of Justice”.

Staunchly supporting Israel, Germany issued a statement stating that Israel “has been defending itself” against Hamas. The statement defines the South African case as a “political instrumentalisation” of the UN Genocide Convention, which it opposes.

South Africa has called upon the ICJ to take provisional measures against Israel, which includes an immediate halt to Israeli military activity in Gaza. Although the interim rulings are expected to be reached in the next few weeks, a final verdict is expected to take years.

The first Chinese correspondent to enter the Pacific island nation after Nauru’s government announced that it had “severed diplomatic ties” with the Taiwan authorities and is willing to resume diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China.

Nauru’s government issued a statement on Monday, announcing that it recognizes the one-China principle, severed the so-called “diplomatic relations” with the Taiwan authorities, and is willing to resume diplomatic relations with China.

Xinhua News Agency hired a correspondent and set up a reporting office in Nauru on the same day.

SEOUL, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) — The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) decided on Monday to abolish its agencies handling inter-Korean affairs, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Tuesday.

The Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK issued, during its session on Monday, the decision on abolishing the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country, the National Economic Cooperation Bureau and the Kumgangsan International Tourism Administration, agencies designed to facilitate inter-Korean dialogue, negotiations and cooperation, the KCNA report said.

The decision was made on the grounds that “the reunification of Korea can never be achieved with the Republic of Korea which set it as its state policy to achieve the ‘unification by absorption’ and ‘unification under liberal democracy,'” according to the report.

“It is quite contrary to our national reunification line based on one nation, one state and two systems which we have adhered to for nearly 80 years,” the report said.

DPRK: Hypersonic Missile Successfully Test-Fire! (15.1.2024)

The test-fire was aimed at verifying the gliding and (controlled) manoeuvring characteristics of intermediate-range hypersonic warhead and the reliability of newly developed multi-stage – high-thrust – (solid-fuel) engines.

The test-fire was successfully conducted.

The test-fire never affected the security of any neighbouring country and had nothing to do with the regional situation.

The Missile Administration explained that the test is a part of the Administration and its affiliated Defence Science Institutes’ regular activities for developing powerful (deterrent) weapon systems. (End)

Furthermore, in pursuing this US-friendly policy – Qatar is acting in support of Zionist Israel whose US-supplied Airforce and missiles routinely ‘bomb’ the Syrian hinterland on a regular basis – and have done so for some years! Qatar is not alone in supporting Zionist Israel in Syria whilst opposing Zionist Israel in Palestine – as Turkey and Saudi Arabia are currently pursuing a similar US-friendly (anti-Socialist) foreign policy trajectory in Syria. How would these countries respond if Palestine became ‘free’ and declared itself an Arab Socialist Republic – just like Iran? Interesting food for thought and an interesting story recorded in Max Blumenthal’s book entitled ‘The Savagery of Violence’. Of course, I am no stranger in criticising Qatar and Al Jazeera – as my usual function is to counter Al Jazeera’s continuous attack upon Communist China – which is a staple of its ‘fake’ news coverage regarding the PRC!
