There were different types of government-provided air-raid shelters issued during WWII. However, the version depicted here – is very close to that issued to my mother’s family (surnamed ‘Gibson’) who lived in Lewisham, South London. During September, 1940, the Nazi Germany ‘Luftwaffe’ blanket-bombed East London and killed and wound thousands of British people. During the entire 18-months of the ‘Blitz’ – the Luftwaffe inflicted 40,000 casualties in London and 70,000 all across the UK! My family lived in a three-storied house in Fordyce Road – with a generation living on each floor.
The fact that the United States supported and protected Israel’s criminal actions immediately after the hospital bombing incident – through making absurd arguments that this incident was believed to be the work of forces other than Israel -clearly demonstrates that the United States is an accomplice in condoning and encouraging Israel’s murderous atrocities.
The reason the United States arrogantly vetoed the UN Security Council Resolution and attempted to prevented humanitarian aid reaching Gaza – is under the rationale that Israel has a “right to self-defense” – which a coded message meaning Israel can kill as many Palestinians as it sees fit in pursuance of the Zionist’s Greater Israel policy.
The United States, the destroyer of world peace and the strangler of justice, can never escape the responsibility it carries of condoning and encouraging Israel’s monstrous War Crime of brutally slaughtering the Palestinian people.
He continued: “It is disturbing news that an evacuation order for Al-Quds Hospital has been received from Israel. We have stressed repeatedly that it is impossible for these overcrowded hospitals to safely evacuate patients. They must be allowed to perform their life-saving functions. They must be protected.”
On Friday, Israel issued a warning to “evacuate” Al-Quds Hospital, South of Gaza City, and empty it of patients and displaced people “in preparation for its bombing.”
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that it “received a threat from the Occupation Authorities to bomb Al-Quds Hospital.”
The Red Crescent spokesperson added that the Israeli Occupation Army demanded “the immediate evacuation of the hospital, which houses more than 400 patients and about 12,000 displaced civilians who took refuge in it as a safe place.”
He stressed that “The occupying Zionist entity was born through the shedding of innocent blood, and we are not surprised that the international community – which is premised upon terrorism – calls for democracy and human rights, but remains silent and then forgets these aspirations when it acts, so that all these principles become nothing but dried ink on dead paper. We call on peace-loving countries to make every effort to demand that the international community – and the so-called United Nations – put pressure on this Zionist entity to stop its criminal practices against our people! We also appeal to the free peoples of the world who took to the streets to denounce aggression and heinous crimes, and also the Arab peoples who must take to the streets and expel the Ambassadors of the United States, and demonstrate against the norms of this corrupt society!
