Ancient China: Did Shang Dymasty [1600-1046 BCE] Travellers Reach the Americas? (12.3.2024)

Since 1973, Americans have been discovering many strange artificial stone products in the shallow waters off the coast of California, in the United States. The total number is as high as eleven, with a number of these objects being “cylindrical” shaped, designed like an “equilateral triangle”, or “circular with an empty middle”! American scholar Moriarty pointed out – in his analysis of the stones – that these objects did not come from the Americas. “There is no doubt that this is an early stone anchor from Asia.” Based on the calculation of the manganese accumulation rate on the stones of one millimetre per thousand years, “since today It is about 2000-3000 years old.”

Greemway Gardens: Encountering the “Robin”! (29.12.2023)

Indeed, within the behaviour of these birds is the history of their interaction with humans and the surrounding the environment. Interestingly, there are photographs on display in the house that record the physical presence of family cats – but I suspect that as the house is so big and the grounds so extensive – these cats probably never ventured very far out of the house and into the gardens. Of course, Gee managed to find a cluster of bamboo shrubs probably planted by Agatha Christie – or at least one of her servants.

Email: Torquay Museum – Japanese Battle Kite! (29.8.2023)

At the above link I have added a blog post to our family martial arts website regarding this medieval Japanese battlefield ‘kite’! It resides in the Torquay Museum in South Devon and even when we visited – there was not the usual plaque giving the provenance of this piece – other than a description of what it is. I have written to the Museum to see if I can clear-up the mystery as to the origins of this artefact. As maters stand, this is a bamboo and material device that acts as a ‘kite’ able to lift a grown man of the era into the air whilst carrying a bow and supply of arrows! He is barefoot and stands on a single bamboo pole whilst his body is held in place by two crossed baboo poles in the centre of the device!
