Galmpton Village: A Boxing Day Walk! (26.12.2023)

Although we had booked today (December 27th, 2023) to visit Agatha Christie’s house (Greenway) nearby – we just received an email notification that due to the bad weather – the house is currently ‘Closed’! Although there is a storm blowing – many Agatha Christie enthusiasts have still made their way here – one or two from as far away as Japan! Still, we are not exactly Agatha Christie fans, but we are interested in history and cultural development. Yesterday, the wind and rain stopped for an hour or two and this allowed myself and Gee to walk the dogs through Galmpton Village. It seems to be a place where rich people retire and the envious walk through.

It said in its daily report that 19,600 were killed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, and that more than 55,000 were wounded, while the number of those killed in the West Bank was 302, adding that the vast majority of them, or 70%, were women and children, while thousands are still missing.

If the average reader knows anything about South Devon and the political complexion of many of its people – Arabic channels would be the last type of media that would be expected. Still, the place is near where my parents live and is not far from major shopping centres. For the time-being – this is our family headquarters and the place we will be spending Xmas Day 2023. We are not religious (as we are Scientist-Socialists or more specifically Marxist-Leninist-Maoists) – but we do wish the whole of humanity peace, love, security, self-determination and endless prosperity! Long Live Palestine – and may ALL the Zionist War Criminals be bought to a swift Justice!

Of course, as an act of Solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Palestine, we posed for some of the photographs holding one of our Palestinian scaffs. The Israeli fascists have murdered over 20,009 Palestinian men, women and children and maimed over 70,000 in just four weeks using weaponry (much of it illegal) provided by the US and the UK. I wonder what the ancient ancestors of the UK would make of the fact that their descendents use the life they have given them to deprive others of just exactly that same thing! Perhaps they would drop to their knees in despair!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the churches that have sent messages of support and courageously spoken out against these crimes. Your commitment to justice and your unwavering support are greatly appreciated during these dark times.

Jesus was born under occupation and oppression, the story of his birth, life, death and resurrection exemplifies the struggle for justice. 2,000 years later, the Palestinian experience is still one of struggle for justice.

For the first time, the tradition of lighting Bethlehem’s tree will not take place. What was once a season of joy has become a season of mourning.

Let us unite, in a spirit of solidarity and justice, and the spirit of Christmas, to ensure that next year, Christmas will be celebrated in a free Palestine, in a free Bethlehem, in a free Jerusalem, and in a free and healing Gaza.

He said that the launching drill sent a clear signal to the hostile forces, who have fanned up their reckless military confrontation hysteria against the DPRK all the year round and are frantically maximizing it till the end of this year despite the repeated stern warnings and denunciation by the DPRK. Noting that it was an occasion to clearly show what action the DPRK has been prepared and what option the DPRK would take when Washington makes a wrong decision against it, he appreciated that the drill once again and strikingly displayed the DPRK’s will for toughest counteraction and its overwhelming strength.
