Being out of date is not the same as being “illegal”. Whilst the English were being killed by the Nazi Germans – they comprised songs of defiance as their bodies were being blown apart. Black South Africans, whilst living within the Apartheid-era, were oppressed, beaten, raped, and killed over an extended period of time by Boer nationalists who held all the political power at the time. Whilst Boer bullets and bombs tore apart Black bodies – the indigenous African population composed songs of defiance as a means to “resist” the racially motivated attacks of their Boer enemies. The government of the Netherlands, by way of observation, has never condemned the behaviour of its Dutch citizens who travelled to Africa and invaded it.

Mouldy Old Oranges!

China: Mouldy Old Oranges & the Groucho Marx-School of News Reporting! (26.3.2025)

A social media user on the Chinese platform RedNote discovered the white fungal growth on an apple she had bought from a month earlier. She then posted a photo of it online, which soon attracted thousands of likes, including a Xu Rongju, a doctoral student at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Kunming Institute of Botany.

The institute believed that this is very rare and has research value so it decided to purchase it. The institute identified the growth on the apple as Schizophyllum, also known as the splitgill mushroom – a type of fungus with fan-shaped caps.

Silversea Onboard Animal Policy – the “Elephant” in the Room – Plus Silversea Response! (21.3.2025)

I was enthralled to see a fine pair of elephants (good ivory – strong stature) featured on the Silversea online website – next to the description of the cruise-ship entertainment and various other distractions (including a breeding-pair of Polar Bears – I believe). May I take this opportunity to enquire as to what is the policy for animals being onboard? Although I am a little out-of-date, I am told the odd ship might possess a parrot to keep the children engaged – but am musing as to whether the new cruise-ships – being as spacious as they are – could also contain some type of Zoo?

Sam Jones "On Run" After Wombat Incident!

Australia: Foreigner Who “Fingered” Underage Wombat – On Run! (15.3.2025)

In a statement on Instagram, Jones defended her actions, claiming she had been trying to prevent the wombat from being hit by a vehicle and had briefly examined it for injuries before returning it to its mother. She acknowledged she had acted impulsively and expressed regret for causing distress.

However, she also lashed out at the Australian government, highlighting its policies that allow farmers to kill wombats and other wild animals, said the ABC report.

Under Australia’s Environmental and Biosecurity Protection Act 1999, it is illegal to take or harm native animals without a legal reason. Wildlife experts clarified that handling a joey is only permissible if its mother is confirmed dead and the animal requires rescue, it said, adding authorities have not announced any legal action against Jones at this time.

Blinged-Up Egyptian Mummies Not Welcome in UK!

Many of these mummies arrived well before the Windrush generation – with none ever living in a British colony. It is believed the final leg of the journey saw the mummies arrive from the continent in small boats – imported by unscrupulous smugglers – for nefarious purposes. Once in the UK, such incomers become very difficult to remove, due to Human Rights legislation. The numbers then often multiply – as family members are discovered in their home countries (usually in a state of vagrancy) – and imported into the UK to complete highly lucrative exhibitions and displays.
