Titanic: The Forgotten Eight Chinese Passengers! (14.12.2020)

To this end, Donald Steamship Company bought these Chinese people a third-class group ticket – numbered 1601 – price £56, 9 shillings and 11 pence. The ‘Chinese’ names registered on this collective ticket are written in phonetic English and read:

1) Fang Lang

2) Choong Foo

3) Ali Lam

4) Ling Hee

5) Chang Chip

6) Lee Bing

7) Lee Ling

8) Len Lam

Amongst them the youngest was 24 years old whilst the oldest was 37 years old. As dispatch workers (who were sent anywhere at anytime with no Union support or protection) – these Chinese men were made to work more than 12 hours a day in terrible conditions – whilst receiving only one-fifth the pay of that earned by White (Umionised) workers doing exactly the same job!

Tanzanian: Vice President Opens 6th Swahili International Tourism Expo! (24.10.2020)

The expo, which started Friday and will end Sunday, is held after a hiatus of two years because of COVID-19. This year’s expo feature business exhibitions, investment forums and seminars, speed-networking sessions, cultural performances, and familiarization trips to unique tourist attractions across Tanzania. It is being attended by more than 200 domestic and overseas exhibitors, over 100 international buyers from within and outside Africa, and more than 5,000 trade visitors.

Chana said the expo has attracted stakeholders in the tourism industry from countries including China, Indonesia, India, the United Kingdom, Oman, Mozambique, Malawi, Algeria and Zimbabwe.

They should become more conscious of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership; have firm confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics; uphold Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership; and more purposefully study, observe, apply, and uphold the Party Constitution. This will ensure that the entire Party strives in unity to build a modern socialist country in all respects and advance national rejuvenation on all fronts.

Xi Jinping ‘Elected’ General Secretary of CPC Central Committee: Communique (23.10.2022)

BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) — Xi Jinping was elected general secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the committee’s first plenary session held on Sunday, according to a communique.

The session, presided over by Xi, was attended by 203 members of the 20th CPC Central Committee and 168 alternate members.

Xi was also named chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission at the session.

The members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee elected at the session are Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi.

Also elected were members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee at the session, which endorsed the members of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat nominated by the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

China: Hong Kong to Align its Policies with National Strategies! (21.10.2022)

Determined to tackle deep-seated land and housing issues, Lee called for building 30,000 new public housing units, increasing the city’s public housing supply by about 50 percent in the next five years.

The government will also shorten the waiting time for public housing from six to 4.5 years, and cut the time for turning “primitive land “into “spade-ready sites” by one-third to half, Lee said.

His policy address also announced measures to stimulate the local economy, propel science and technological advancement, drive cultural and art development and better promote Hong Kong’s advantages to the international community.
