After his death in 1226, the body was carefully hidden to avoid theft or desecration. It was only discovered in 1818, after a long search, and since then, several verifications have been carried out — most recently in 2015 –, which confirmed the authenticity and good state of preservation of the relics. Those bones, marked by the suffering and wounds of the Crucified One, are the physical echo of a life spent for love. The Basilica of St. Francis will become, during that month, the spiritual heart of the world. A massive influx of pilgrims from all Continents is expected. The Trump II era is currently pumping-out the propaganda that “Chinese New Year” is NOT “Chinese” (i.e. not relatable to the 1.8 billion people who inhabit Mainland China) – but is in fact merely the “Lunar New Year” which belongs to everyone but the “Chinese”. Apparently, whilst using coded messaging in the mainstream press suggesting that “old” and “oppressive” regimes should be “overthrown” – the US anti-intellectualism that controls the White House does not seem to realise that there are MANY “lunar” calendar that do not align with the Chinese version (the Buddhist and Mohammedans are two examples). Ironically, within China there are both Buddhists and Muslims who celebrate the Chinese New Year – because they are “Chinese”. Outside of China, Muslims tend to reject anything not permitted by their religious leaders – although Buddhists are far more flexible (as they do not worship an “imagined” theistic entity). The point of Chinese New Year is to share the joy of this “Spring Festival” as traditionally people looked forward to a new rice-crop that would sustain the nation!

As compassion and loving kindness grows and is magnified through the more people it is shared with – these statements act as “ripples” of positive energy emanating that traverse through the portals of the past, present, and future – excluding none and embracing all! Of course, the Buddha defined the human mind as being that capacity which can perceive the present, recall the past, and plan for the future. This is a remarkable observation. What the Ch’an School offers, infused as it is with the thinking associated with Confucianism – and the far older “Book of Change” – is that the mind should a) be “stilled” (realising a relative emptiness), b) a product of purifying all vestiges of greed, hatred, and delusion, and c) and in so-doing experiencing the expansion of this “emptiness” realisation into an “all-embracing” reality.

The point is that even if the brutal capitalists take everything away from the workers (even their clothes) and lock each individual in a cell – this is the ideal conditions for in-depth meditation practice. Nothing can stop a Buddhist so committed – and it is time that the Communist Parties of the world acknowledge the importance of the Buddhist Revolutionary Method! Finally, when studying “Philosophy of Mind” I was introduced to the Western idea that the “mind” does “not exist”. Due to thousands of years of theistic theology – the West was deluded into thinking that the mind equals the disembodied spirit – and that both were “separate” from the body.

What was written on those 30 missing pages? No one knows because they remain missing. It is interesting to speculate as what is left reads like the music (and lyrics) from “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. Considering how bizarre and sexually suggestive the remaining content is – one is left pondering as to the true scale of non-conformity. Anyway, a number of early SciFi writes used the agency of “sleep” as a means to travel long distances or indeed travel through time – I think this idea dates back to the French author “Louis-Sébastien Mercier” (1740-1814) and his 1771 masterpiece entitled “The Year 2440: A Dream If Ever There Was One” (L’An 2440, rêve s’il en fut jamais). I think HG Wells also borrowed this concept for his 1898 book entitled “When the Sleeper Wakes”. Lindsay, it must be said, did flesh it out somewhat by suggesting it was possible to “travel on light beams” in “torpedo-shaped metal space craft” (the essence of the modern “Alien” franchise?). Of course, it must be stressed that Arcturus was in fact the “sun” around which the planet Tormance orbited. The protagonists did not travel to the sun – but to the planet Tormance – which is an interesting and unexplained contradicting. Why not the title “A Voyage to Tormance” – as this planet seems far more warmer than earth (the main character Maskull required a blood transfusion just tosurvive – provided wilfully by a Tormance women (an allusion to the power of menstruation – perhaps?)

In many ways – the fascism inherent within Zionism – is a method developed to defend Jews from outside fascism. On the face of it – these developments, as irritating as they are – do represent a type of “studied” genius. This does not mean that the religious claims of Judaism are correct – or even rational. Do not forget that the telephone was originally developed not as a means of mass communication – but rather as a method enabling living people on this plane to contact disembodied beings existing on the spiritual plane. This Christian assumption turned-out to be false – and humanity was left with a piece of technology that linked living people on this plane – regardless of distance between callers. Religious myths often serve as the starting points for advanced technological developments. I remember on the early internet (c. 2000) when people encountered one another online and acted as if we were meeting one another on the street – or in a bar – using a measured politeness. Of course, the young messed it all up because they did not know any better (it is not their fault – but our fault as elders). I suspect people cannot stand me whilst I am alive – and certainly would not like to be reminded of “me” – once I have shuffled-off this mortal coil – as Shakespeare said. My father is nearing his physical end – he knows this and is happy with it. We hate capitalism – and he said to me that all the suffering will cease with a final, outward breath. So be it.
