The memes, the article notes, function as a way to externalize “the decay of the American dream,” as young people grapple with deteriorating infrastructure, economic pressure and political polarization at home.

At the same time, China is increasingly portrayed as a contrast and even an aspirational symbol. With its rapid urban development, expansive high-speed rail network and growing presence in advanced technologies, China has come to represent “something completely different” from the lived experiences of many Americans, the article said.

WIRED pointed out that China’s global manufacturing and technological footprint has made it “unavoidable” in daily life, from consumer electronics and electric vehicles to renewable energy equipment and artificial intelligence products. This ubiquity, combined with domestic disillusionment, has helped fuel a semi-ironic, semi-admiring online fascination.

I acquired this wonderful video from the Bronx Anti-War Telegram Channel (linked below). It is remarkable that people like this still exist in the US – but then again the bourgeois warmongers can repress the working-class all they like – but can never permanently silence – or destroy it. Just as long as the capitalists require our labour to earn their riches for them – we will always exist to blight their existence. We patiently watch and wait. Just lately, I have been reading all of Che Guevara’s excellent books preserved in Cuba and actually allowed to be published on the Audible platform. My influences are Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Ho Chi Mnh – but recently I met a man of Spanish descent and he explained to me about the rich (related) but distinct South American tradition of Socialism. Until then, I viewed this aspect (incorrectly) as merely an amorphous extension of Marxist-Leninism. Reading and studying are the keys to education and breaking-up misconceptions about things.

Taiwan: US “Blocks” Mainland China Apps Throughout Colony! (31.1.2026)

The move comes after these apps were placed on a “high-risk” list by the island’s digital affairs authorities to “prevent children and adolescents from exposure to age-inappropriate content” and to address “possible cybersecurity risks.”

The island’s education authorities also warned that primary and secondary schools should not use these apps in teaching activities.

A mainland spokesperson on Wednesday criticized Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party authorities for hyping up the so-called information security risks of mainland apps, noting that these measures have deprived people on the island of the freedom to use social networking platforms.

On top of this, some aspects of TCM have developed through added-on superstitions that became popular in the past – but are not related to the philosophical foundation of TCM (probably the “Change Classic”). These Chinese superstitions are culturally comforting – but are not premised upon genuine TCM philosophy – and cannot be materially (objectively) proven to work either traditionally or cotemporally. In the West there are two strands of TCM – one practiced and passed-on by ethnic Chinese people (who may or may not – be linked directly to Mainland China) – the other practiced and passed-on by (usually “White”) non-Chinese people. The latter category evolved out of the Western invasion of China – and the “enforced” teaching of TCM to Westerners. In the UK there are TCM centres (specialising in “acupuncture”) that have no links with any authorising ethnic Chinese institution. These are considered “racist” in historical origin and function – as such entities represent the “White” appropriation of Chinese TCM culture – a process which “excludes” the ethnic Chinese from their own culture. This remains the case even if certain ethnic Chinese individuals are taught this stream of Westernised TCM (which actually happens).
