MOSCOW, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) — Ilya Kiva, a former member of the Ukrainian parliament, was killed with a silenced weapon on Wednesday in a hotel park near Moscow, local media reported Thursday.
An unknown assailant killed Kiva with a short-barreled gun with a silencer. His body was found in the park of the hotel where he was staying, reported TASS news agency.
According to the state-run RIA Novosti news agency, the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine claimed responsibility for the death of Kiva. GUR’s spokesperson Andrey Yusov admitted on television the involvement of GUR in the killing of the politician.
The Moscow region investigators have opened a criminal case of murder after the body of Kiva was found in one of the hotels in the village of Suponevo in the Odintsovo district. Police officers are working at the scene, clarifying all the circumstances of the incident, as well as seizing recordings from surveillance cameras.
In 2019, Kiva ran for the presidency of Ukraine but withdrew his candidacy. Later he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, becoming a member of the Committee on National Security and Defense.
In 2022, Kiva was deprived of his parliamentary mandate by the decision of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine. In November 2023, he was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason.

A funeral service car enters the territory of a closed cottage community. What is happening in the depths is hidden from the eyes of ordinary people and the cameras of journalists by a three-metre thick fence. Only Special Service vehicles are allowed through the gates, guarded by a whole group of security officers from the gardening non-profit partnership. All previously booked rooms for potential guests have been cancelled.
Serious access system. Electronic key, reader. Entry camera for cars. Iron, almost fortress gates. Kiva’s killer simply could not get there unnoticed, and, accordingly, it was impossible to get out.
Footage exists of the investigative team at the scene of the murder of ex-member of the Ukrainian parliament Ilya Kiva. Experts are looking for shell casings. The killer was probably waiting for the victim in the park area, where, apparently, there are no surveillance cameras. According to investigators, the killer was aiming for the head.
“An unknown person fired shots at the victim. The man died on the spot from his injuries. A group of the most experienced investigators and criminologists of the main Investigative Committee joined the investigation of this criminal case,” said Olga Vradiy, senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region.
Ilya Kiva, former Ukrainian deputy, notorious political turncoat. In 2022, he supported the special military operation and moved to Russia, after which he was sentenced by the Kyiv authorities to 14 years in prison in absentia on charges of treason. In August of this year, he called on the people of Ukraine to overthrow the criminal puppet regime, and on Wednesday, in a post on social networks, he said that Zelensky was preparing an escape plan after his removal from office, but did not trust the security guarantees of either country.
“Zelensky would be better off committing suicide now, as losers have always done… But he is too cowardly and narcissistic for such actions,” Kiva wrote.
Kiva’s ex-colleague Oleg Tsarev said that they had been hunting for the scandalous deputy for a long time.
“I know that the Ukrainian special services are behind this, that he knew about the hunt for him and moved from Moscow to the Odintsovo district. But he did not save himself,” Tsarev noted.
And now representatives of the main intelligence department of Ukraine, in the ISIS style (ISIS is a terrorist organization banned in Russia), floridly, but as if confirming their involvement, commented on the murder of Kiva.
“Kiva is everything. Such a fate awaits all traitors to Ukraine,” the statement says.
Almost at the same time, but in Lugansk, another politician was killed – deputy of the People’s Council of the LPR Oleg Popov. Terrorists blew him up in his personal car right outside the Avangard stadium – where hundreds of Lugansk children participate in sports clubs. Miraculously, none of them were hurt. And the deputy, who was involved in issues of security and defense of the People’s Republic, died from his injuries. Such methods have long become the signature style of the bloody Kyiv regime. Politicians and journalists, administrative officials and heads of law enforcement agencies of regions annexed to Russia… The methods of murder are predominantly terrorist.
It is no coincidence that today’s murders occurred on this day, experts say. Firstly, the Zelensky regime unsuccessfully tried to interrupt the information agenda related to Vladimir Putin’s visit to Dubai. The course of the special military operation may depend on it. Secondly, the terrorist Neo-Nazi State decided to celebrate the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this way. Due to the lack of success on the military and political fronts, the Kiev regime acts vilely. This no longer just looks like a gesture of despair, but rather like death throes.
