British Soldier - WWI - Mounted on a Military Camel!

UK: British Imperial Camel Corps War Memorial (1916-1917-1918) – Victoria Embankment Gardens – South London!

UK British Camel Corps – War Memorial – Victoria Embankment Gardens – London

We have visited the Victoria Embankment Gardens many times in the past – as the park is located directly opposite the Embankment Tube Station and is near to the Charing Cross Tube and Train Statin. I had noticed this important WWI War Memorial as it features a lone (armed) British soldier sat atop a single-humped (military) camel. I have no seen any other War Memorial like this – and there might well be political reasons for this.

During WWII, the British Empire (allied by Imperial Russia) went to war with Imperial Germany (allied by the Ottoman Empire). Although the 1915-1916 Gallipoli Campaign was a disaster for Britain (fighting the Turks) – The British Imperial Camel Corps was fairly successful fighting the Ottomans in the many deserts of the Middle East – including Syria, Egypt, and Gaza, etc. This Monument covers the years 1916, 1017, 1918, and records the sacrifice of British, Australian, and Indian troops from territories within the British Empire. Although many millions of Muslims resided within the British Empire (often joining the British Army) – millions more lived within the Ottoman Empre and were antagonistic toward Imperial Britain.

The Russian (Socialist) Revolution unfolded – during 1917 following Czarist Russia losing 6 million men fighting Imperial Germany – and saw a Revolutionary Russia leave the war. In 1916, 1917, and 1918, the British Army in Palestine not only fought Arab nationalists – but also Zionist Jews. The British Army engaged (and neutralised) the Zionists-terrorists who not only attacked the British (and any Muslim loyal to the British) – but also continued to attack any Muslim person trying to oppose and/or resist the British. The British Army had unenviable the task of fighting (and neutralising) resisting Muslims on the one-hand – whilst having to “protect” loyal Muslims from Zionist-terrorist aggression. Indeed, the 1917 Balfour Declaration made in the UK Parliament guaranteed that Zionist-Jews would be granted a section of Palestinian land as their own (without consulting the already occupying Palestinians) – but this did not prevent the Zionist-terrorists from pursuing their path of out and out violence. Indeed, this violence – used to attack British and Arabs – continued well into 1947. Of course, between 1918-1947 – the British as an occupying force – also suffered continuous violence from resisting Arabs. As the UK and the West fully supports the genocide being perpetuated by Zionist Israel today – Monuments such as the above are embarrassing as they remind the world that there was once a time when the West did not bow-down to Zionist-terrorism – and even remembered with pride the British soldiers killed and wounded whilst fighting this type of UN-declared “fascism” (see the 1975 Resolution).

Thank You to the Men & Camels of the British Army!
