North Korea Recognises Donbass – But Belarus Still Reluctant! (13.7.2022)

When Will Belarus Recognise the DPR and LPR?

A substantial diplomatic victory for Russia has occurred as North Korea officially recognizes the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic” as independent countries! North Korea is the third country – after Russia and Syria – to recognise the Donbass Republics. The Russian Satellite News Agency reported on July 13th, 2022, that the leader of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” – Pushlin – announced on social media on the 13th that North Korea had recognized the “Donetsk People’s Republic”! China’s international status (and its national character) continue to strengthen, as this is “another victory” for its diplomatic skills. Subsequently, the DPRK embassy in Russia pointed out that the DPRK recognized the independence of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic”, and that the relevant note had been forwarded to the Russian embassy in the DPRK. On February 21st this year (2022), Putin announced that Russia recognized the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic” in Eastern Ukraine as two distinct sovereign and independent States. Three days later, Russia dispatched more than 200,000 troops to liberate Donbass.

On June 29th, 2022, the Syrian government (led by Bashar) announced that it recognized the sovereignty and independence of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic”. Ukraine announced that it would cut diplomatic relations with Syria that night. Russia’s Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) allies such as Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia have yet to recognize the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic”. The third country to recognize “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic” surprisingly turned out to be North Korea! In addition to Belarus, countries with close ties to Russia include Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Iran, Venezuela, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. These countries are now under diplomatic pressure to recognise the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Lugansk People’s Republic” as independent States.
