North Korea’s Swift Action Shifts the Balance of Power in Favour of Eurasia! (16.7.2022)

Lee Hae-Yeung (李海荣) – a Professor at Hanshin University in South Korea – told Sputnik on July 16th, 2022, that North Korea’s rational and prompt decision to recognize the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic shows that, unlike South Korea, Pyongyang quickly realized the benefits of a multipolar world order which develops good relations with Russia. This action has created an important counterweight to US hegemony and neo-imperialism.

Lee Hae-Yeung believes: “North Korea decided quickly, very quickly, in fact. North Korea is the third country after Russia and Syria to support the independence of the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic – which legally recognize their sovereign State status. Now the political landscape of Eurasia is changing rapidly, and the US is losing its direct influence upon global events. North Korea seriously and exactly understands this arguably huge geopolitical shift.” According to him, Eurasia has already started a “coherent action” against the United States. China is advancing its own initiative – the Belt and Road Initiative – as well as proposing an expansion of the BRICS membership. Currently, the group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Iran and Argentina have already applied to join, and Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt may also apply in the near future.

“North Korea has been historically very good at assessing the international situation. They are soberly assessing the current rapidly changing (dialectical) situation and hope to develop a good and sincere relationship with Russia and consolidate this relationship,” Lee Hae-Yeung explained. He pointed out that if the Donbass continues to remain in this form as it is now – with a separate Lugansk People’s Republics and Donetsk People’s Republics – it suggests a political merging of Eurasian countries, which is very important development that is unfavourable for the future of United States hegemony.

“The US is desperately trying to stop this development as a means to prevent the rise of a China-centric Eurasia,” the expert said. “North Korea saw the emerging strategic structure, made a rational choice, and made it extremely quickly.” Pyongyang quickly realized that a multipolar world was undoubtedly in their favour. But the South Korean government still does not understand what has happened – what is the problem – and continues to blindly pursue the old policy!”

Earlier, the North Korean embassy in Moscow told Sputnik that it recognized the independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic. KCNA later released news that North Korea intends to follow the ideals of sovereignty, peace and friendship and develop State relations with the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic.
